LOL You guys wont believe this.Me and a few guys meet every Sunday morning to pound legs.So today while were going at it...Balls to the wall, this guy walks in with his gf.(very cute i might add). He walks to the bench loads 315 and starts stretching. The whole time hes telling her hes all that and he used to be king of weights round here.My partner walks up as he lays back on the bench, and asks you need a spot. The guy laughs and says i think i can handle this.He takes the bar out of the rack and Kaboo. It falls on his chest like a ton.Knocking tears out his eyes and causing him to lose his breath. When he caught his breath he tells his girl things just aint right today. He ruined leg day for us cause we laughed so long we couldnt concintrate anymore...

Yeah, that is always funny. My fav is at the beginning of the summer when all the school kids come in and think they are going to impress us by throwing a 70lb dumbell around trying despertly to curl it. They all try to show off to the other girls in the gym, and in the end, look like real idiots doing it! :)

That does bring me to a point though! You ever notice that everyone (when your built at all) always comes up and says "I used to be into bodybuilding", and then when you look at them totally umimpressed says something like "I was pressing XXX when I gave it up". Now, I don't deny that they used to be "into" bodybuilding. My problem is that the "XXX" number they ALWAYS give is over 300 lbs. Now, I can honestly bench 315 a few times, but it has taken me a long time to get to that level. Even in my gym, I have seen a few guys go over 300, but its not that common.

So tell me, does everyone have selective memory about "What they used to press" or am I just a wimp (or is everyone an ex-pro bodybuilder/powerlifer that I don't know about). :)

I hear it alot, but most those people did it wrong, or a powerlifting style. But even with the powerlifting style it still takes alot of work to get to there.

Do you guys notice? When you are kinda build people come up to you and first thing they ask is,how much do you bench?I don't know what but something about that bench press makes these guys tough or something.
When they ask me I tell them I can't bench to save my life.(I really can't by the way my max is 275) And I tell them I am not a power lifter,I'll do enough weight to keep proper form and the muscles working.so to it's all about feeling not about showing off. Plus every time I try to show off just like that idiot I end up hurting myself. :)

I once had to choke back a laugh when a guy told me he used to curl 225lb. My lady tried to call bs to his face but I told her to just let it go. :liar:

I don't do jack shit to impress people...most people are not worth impressing anyway. I do whatever I can while staying in perfect form.
