  • need to vent

I just need to vent something here in public forum. Everyone in my fam knows bout me using gear etc for the last 8yrs or so, my brothers sisters mom dad everyone... Well, all of them are positive bout it, my sis texts me telling me to push my workouts, my lil bro sends me spongebob workout pics, hell my mom even brings me food to work 2-3x a day when I'm bulking just to make sure I reach my goals, I moved out 5 yrs ago and everyone was sad but have been supportive of me yah I don't see them as much but still its nice to know that they support me each in their own way, except for my dad, he's always raggin on me bout steroids this that, If I ever come over to visit and have a headache or a sniffle its "steroids makin u sick" etc just junk like that, I really don't head over to my rents place anymore just because of the comments, well his comments, recently he's been doin the whole, so when u gonna croak from all the shit ure on, I try to laugh it off and tell him the 15 diff meds he has to take each day should have him more concerned than my own poisons. I guess it just bugs me, everyone wants me to succeed and knows how important lifting and the lifestyle is to me except for him, When I did my first show Teen chicago I had to buy a ticket for him(mind u my fam is well off) and he still didnt want to go( i had to have mom use sex as leverage just to get him to show up) he kept callin it gay and how everyone there was fags and gonna die within a few years, well I'm just bothered by hearing it all the time and just find it odd since he is the least healthy individual that I know yet he judges me as if he were god. I'm just pissed and hate hearing all the comments and really feel like some people should just shut the hell up and stay out my way, except he's my dad and I hate to be that way with fam, I just wish he was supportive like everyone else

Just a little too much information there bro...

As for the rest of the post - it's your dad's way of saying that he knows what's going on in your life, he cares about you and wants you to be o.k.

That's how some dad's are. Some push and push and push their kids - others aren't that aggresive but they still care the same. Just take it as a sign that he loves you and try not to get in a pissing match with him as it will make him change his feelings of supporting you in his own way.

Yeah, it sounds to me like its a dad that cares. But everyone has their own way of showing it.

Two things here, #1 is he doesn't like or care about the sport so #2 he hasn't really educated himself on what steroids do/don't do to a person, he's just relying on the media for his information. So, that brings us to him really trying to be a concerned parent in his own sarcastic way because he believes everything negative he's heard about steroids. You're probably the only person who's ever tried to show him the positive side.

My father was sarcastic but he didn't do it to be mean and I think your dad's probably the same way. Try to just accept that you're never gonna change his view and just do your own thing quietly when he's around. It's hard I know but it's the respectful thing to do.

I think he is trying to protect you from something he knows nothing about.
