  • Gas prices in the south

I don't know if they raised much anywhere else, but here in eastern OK, the gas priced raised $.20 in 2 days. I swear, oil companies will find every way to exploit gas prices. The reasoning being that oil rigs in the south shut down becuase of hurricane Katrina. I don't understand how that can raise the gas prices so much if we get most of are oil from the middle east.

They said on thew news last night here in KY the gas was going to jump up a dollar more on the gallon.... Wife filled up her truck last night and then crashes into a concrete barrier this morning..... At least the bun in the oven and her are not hurt!!!

If gas continues to rise like it is watch out for the economy to drop.

    PD

Jumped 30cents in 2 days to 2.80. Don't think it'll go down so I think I'll fill up asap. The thing that sucks is that I'm gonna be driving over 1000 miles next week-at 20mi/gal, I'm not sure I'll make it back home!

1/4 of the oil refining capacity is in the Gulf of Mexico. Even if there is more than enough oil, there is no way to refine it into gasoline.

All refineries in the US already were running at 98% capacity before the hurricane. There has not been a new refinary built in the US since the 1970's because environmentalists have managed to keep them from being built.

I don't think most Americans realize how cheap gas is here compared to the rest of the world. It hasn't kept up with inflation by any means and it has always been cheaper than most everywhere else. We're still not anywhere near what it costs in Asia or Europe--why do you think they don't drive SUV's?

1 million gallons of oil are refined daily from the Gulf, the gov't. is now oppening the strategic reserves because we don't have the capability to run the refineries. If we had more refineries in Alaska this wouldn't be such a problem but ecologists fight this. We really need to find alternative fuel sources and actually try to conserve energy to solve the problem.

We paid $2.69 yesterday for regular to fill hubby's vehicle. Today I'll need to fill mine.

fuck this shit is killing me. Last night at 11:45pm it was $2.49 a gallon. My buddy here with me was here and gets a phone call "hey man, pump some gas right now cause at 12:00am the gas is gonna go up to $3.00 fucking dollars".

$3.00 fucking bucks a gallon, thats insane. I heard someone in school that it was gonna raise again more. I need to get a bike instead.

The Stromba is right about refining capacity, if you want to blame high prices on people, blame the "tree huggers" and "whale kissers". Similar to the nuts at P.E.T.A. No oil company is going to spend many BILLIONS of dollars to build a new refinery, and they don't have to, they know we'll pay whatever we have to. By the way, below is a list of oil companies who do and do not import oil from the middle east, and the ones that do, amounts to only about 15% of their useage. My question is, if some companies don't import from the middle east, why is it that their prices go up everytime OPEC increases the cost of oil?
