  • Random question about the movie Abyss

I was watching this the other day and it reminded me to ask about something I have always wondered. You know at the end when Ed Harris gets in that diving suit with the oxygen type fluid. First is that medicaly available and if so are there divers that actually use it?

Thanks, I can't really find any info other than what you said. One article said something about it being used in hospitals, but I couldn't find more extensive info on it.

Ok, I'm pretty tired so maybe I missed it. But there is alot of talk about rebreathers, but not the liquid ones. A little about the CO2 sensors for them, but that's it. If you saw something just say and I will go back later after some sleep and read it.

The whole concept worked great in Hollywood, but in the real world pneumonia would always be a concern afterwards. From 90 to 95 I was a deepsea diver in the Navy where we still used surface supplied hardhat gear. There is a unit called NEDU or navy experimental dive unit. They were men who put together the us navy dive tables as we know them today. What goes on in their labs who knows anything is posible.
