Someone in my city started a rumor that all of the local gas stations would be closing down the pumps by 4pm today and that when they re-opened in the morning the prices would begin at $4.00 +++++++.
All the radio and news stations were trying to keep people from freaking out because the managers and district managers (including a phone interview with some of the gas stations corporate offices) stated that this was not anywhere near true.
Needless to say, it took me over an hour to get home this afternoon in a city of 500k and I only went 7-8 miles. I couldn't even pull out of the gym parking lot because the line to the closest gas station was over a mile long. I finally had to drive behind the gym, jump a couple of curbs and then drive through someones yard and bushes just to get anywhere near an uncongested road. It was absolutely rediculous.
Oh - and all of this was at 5pm so the idiots obviously didn't realize that the gas stations were still open after 4pm - go figure. If anything, they were only making the entire issue 100 times worse.
Did anyone else have this happen in their town today?
:thumbsdow
