Wetsuits for Kayaking?

I was wondering if anyone knows much about wet suits. My girlfriends dad does kayaking in Poland starting sometimes in March. In Marc the river temps are around 40 degrees. We were thinkinga about eventually getting a wet suit for him to wear.

Nope, he can't afford it. I think he wears like warm clothes and a water proof type jacket.
