  • Feeling a little lost again... (thinking out loud)

I want so much to do well in school and not just take the classes. But with my main job during the week it really makes it hard. Here is my typical day assuming I can put off anything I need to get done until Thur.

Sun:Wake up, run erronds or whatever. Gym opens at 1pm, go work out. 7pm-7am(Mon morning), work(main job)

Mon: 8am-10am class, then if I don't have anything to do sleep until noon. If I have erronds to do, like I do tomorrow morning, no sleep. 1pm-5pm class/workstudy. Finally get to sleep about 5:30pm-9:30pm. Get ready for work, go to work(main job) at 11pm-7am(tuesday morning

Tues: Get to sleep around 7:30am-noon. Same class/workstudy 1pm-5pm, go to sleep until 9:30pm. Get ready for work, work(main job) 11pm-7am(wednesday morning)

Wed: Exact same as Monday, except I don't work wed night.

Thurs: Wake up, workout(usually done by 11am, go to class/workstudy 1pm-2pm. 3pm-11pm work at my main job. Sleep

Fri- wake up, work out, class/workstudy 1pm-5pm

    Sat- What ever I want.

Now some where in here I also have to help take care of a newborn. I also have an online english class which I am doing horrible at. Debating if I should drop it. The class/workstudy time is designed to benifit me. I have to be at the gym for womens' basketball practice for student training time. The coach also helped me out by making me his workstudy so I could kind of do two things at once. I'm on financial aid.

Sounds rough bro - it will pay off in the long run though. Tough it out and keep your new family happy in the mean time.

Dang bro, your quite busy these days, me personally would drop the online class so your GPA wont suffer (if your trying to get into a program).

Only advice I can give you, is to just keep looking foward, we all have to struggle in our lives to get where we want to be.

If the online class is already paid for then there's not much sense in dropping out of it. Just do the best you can and next semester don't sign up again.

Good luck, Shibby, it's a tough road you're on now but in the end it'll be worth it.

Thanks for the support so far. Puddles it's not just about completing the class because it's paid for already. I have a 4.0gpa right now. It's already probably going to drop a few tenths of a point after this semester. I don't need to have it take a full point drop from doing horrible in my english class.

If you had to, you could stand on your head for a given length of time, because eventually you know will be able to stop. Same with the position you are in now---keep looking and remembering that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you won't be doing this, or standing on your head, forever. You're young and vigorous and you will appreciate all your sacrifices more when you are through. You will always appreciate things that came to you hard than the one's that came to you easy. Just a fact of life. Hang in there bro, you'll do just fine. BB

Your schedule looks very hectic. What is the main job (work)? It looks like you are getting 24 hours a week with you main job. Is the pay worth the hours that you are working. What is your major? Could you get a job that relates to your studies now? The employer might be more lenient with your hours. When I was in college studying I worked part time construction and they worked with my class/study schedule.

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday you don't have anything until 1 pm. What if you worked 7-12 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 8-5 on (24 hours) - But - the advantage would be that you would not have to pull the late night shift Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Then go to your classes and your work study. Get home after 5:00 class/work study. Spend some time with you wife and newborn. Then do your homework and your online english class after the baby goes to bed (around 8:00?) In bed by 11:00. You would be able to get 8 hours of sleep - and you would not have to break your sleep up in the middle of the day like you are doing. You probably would not feel so overwhelmed if you could run in "regular " hours.

I get 36 hours a week working at my main job (front desk/ nigh audit at a hotel) which pays the best you can get around this little town. I get $1 more an hour since I work that shift. My work study I get 20hrs/wk. I have to be here anyways so that's no big deal. The coach just hooked me up with some money basically, also my girlfriend plays for him.
