AS for Doom, her fiance is a male donimant control freak. Every guy she has dated have been like that. She's never gotten beaten up, but I wouldn't have been surprised if she had been. The last guy she dated for 2 years was your typical cop. He completely made her feel worthless and verbally abused her. She didn't let us know about any of that until way after they were broken up. This guy is a 5'8 skinny maybe 140lb guy. To me, who is he to tell her what to look like... I don't think he is, but then again who knows.

I think she has very low self esteem. I look at myself and I wouldn't have even CONSIDERED dating any of these guys. They are all the same type.

Thanks again for everyones help, it still worries me. I hope it doesn't get any worse.
these are generally the things that change a persons outlook overtime, it may have finally gotten to her, the same criticism, the same old bullshit, and now she has developed these habits to prevent the same things from re occuring, more or less hurting herself to appease someone else

if the problem was brought on becausee of people like this in her life, then marrying one is far from a cure, and in all likelyhood, she wont get much better, being married she may just obssess more, what happens when she gets pregnant?...these are all things that may not be in the extremely near future, but they all have to be considered, and brought up, if you wanna make sure your sis will be ok in the long run

trust me, the WORSE thing you can do, is ignore it and hope it fixes itself

My sister was a healthy normal eating person up until about a year ago. She always exercised and was probably 5'3 124. With in the last year -all of a sudden she eats no carbs. She is completely obsessed with everything she puts in her mouth. She now ONLY drinks DIET colas or water or decaf coffee plain. She refuses to eat red meat. She will exercise everyday no matter what time it is, one time we went to a family birthday party and got home at 11pm and she exercised from 11:30-12:30am. She mainly eats salads and takes everything off and most of the time uses no dressing (always takes the crutons off). Recently we went to Arbys and she ordered a chicken sandwich and she ONLY ate the chicken.. nothing else. This is how she is always eating. We went to a HS football game and while we all had popcorn, she didn't have anything all night. She weighs about 117 now, so she's not underweight.

I really think something is wrong and when I look up stuff on the internet I don't know how to call what is wrong with her, she doesn't have complete symptoms. I'm wondering if she has a little of both. My mom doesn't think anythign is worng that she is just "health conscious" but I think it's a lot father than that. Has anyone dealt with this or is a nutritionist and might see what is wrong and maybe I can help her or somehow guide her?

        Please respond.
sounds to me like she got sick of being chunky and she's doing something about it. good for her. there is nothing wrong with watching what you eat OR a low/no carb diet. good for her - i wish her success...

i get so fucking sick of people judging the way other people choose to eat. people give me all kinds of hell! you think her taking the crutons off her salad is bad! you should hang out with me when i eat nothing but chicken, potato, and oatmeal for weeks on end. like i said...good for her!

I think you are being slightly harsh here Goliath....I think she knows her sister a little better than you do at this point and if she is concerned about her eating habits, it is because there is a reason to be. You don't know the day in and day out details involved in this situation enough to come across like that. I'm sure dreamgirl realizes what a "healthy diet" is, but eating nothing but salad and diet sodas for hours on end is NOT!! When, have you gone without protein in any meals? BTW...eating ONLY chicken, potatos, and oatmeal is not dieting optimally, so your advice here is not lucrative...sorry, just being honest.

She may not be anorexic now, but she seems very unknowledgeable about nutrition and how to approach dieting healthy. If she continues in this path, she may end up with a disorder, given the fact that she has self image issues as well. Try to get her to seek a nutritionist's advice, so she can at least know how to do this right. Good luck, dreamgirl. ;)

Yes a book of labels. THE book used for diagnosis so that you can get an insurance company to pay for these types of things. If you don't have a diagnosis from this "book of labels" then you don't get it paid for. Therapy is expensive.

you're right - i don;t know the whole situation. she just sounded like one of those fat chicks from my office that talk shit about the girl that eats nothing but salad and chicken breast, but looks great.

and FYI - chicken/potato/oatmeal is optimal for me. there is a little more to it, but that is basically it. if it doesn't work for you, i don't care. it works for me. ;)

Salads are nothing but carbs. And if your going to eat a salad the less dressing the better.

                      I don't see a problem here.

                      Again I don't see a problem.

Many body builders do this. I know people on this board my self included who do this. I plan everything around my workout and meal schedule.

IMO With what you described above I don't see a problem. It just sounds like she knows that sitting around eating junk food will give her the body she wants.
But as others have said you know your sister better than us so if you think there is a problem, keep an eye on her and try to talk to her. From personal experience living with someone with an eating disorder there is nothing you can do till they realize there is a problem and they agree to fix it.

thanks for all helping me, goliath, why I was so worried is because she was never fat, she was 5'3 124 and put herself on this diet to loose weight. She was already thin. she was wearing a size 3/4. now she is in a 1/2. to me I didn't and still don't see a reason for her to do this. she ate totally healthy in moderation before, it was working, then she went to this wierd eating habit.

Believe me, I watch what I eat and try and eat 150g of protein a day and watch my fat and carb intake, but it doesn't rule my life. I think that it does for her.

I have gotten my mom to see her self esteem problems. We kind of feel like they all stem from my sister comparing herself to me. Her life has really mimicked mine... except she tries for better... she even works in the same field as I do. The other day she told me that she wanted to buy her first house in the condition that I did, a real fixer-upper so she can turn it into a beautiful home like I did. I told her that the only reason we got the house we did was because we coulnd't afford a nicer one. I told her that maybe she can and won't have to do all the work that we did.... but she said no, that's what she wants.

It's a compliment, but I don't want to also hear that someone lived their life by what I did.

I also think that is why she strives to be thinner, because before we were exactly the same size. Now she is thinner, she has a bigger engagement ring than I do, she makes more money than I did at her age. I hope I am not the one who is causing her all her problems, I would feel horrible.

There is a problem with her knowledge about dieting healthy if she is only eating salad without any protein or ONLY drinking diet sodas for long periods without any protein based solid food every three or four hours. If she is eating salads with just lettuce and raw veggies, they are technically carbs, but 90% of lettuce is water and the little carbs that are there are so extremely low glycemic that they have no bearing on blood sugar whatsoever.
