The dedicated server that powers this site is based in Houston. I have contacted my server company and they assure me that everything should be ok. But just incase, the site may go down for a few days, if so, you guys know why.
Here is some info from the VP of operations at my server company.
We have 36-48 hours of fuel for our generators on site and guaranteed contracts to have fuel delivered in 2 hours.
All of our fiber providers have similar backup systems to us in place, and we provide the power for their equipment on our end.
We do have a drainage canal next to DC2. Even during Tropical Storm Allison which dumped over 36" of rain in this area of town, there was never any danger of DC2 flooding and the water receeded in a matter of hours. The generators and HVAC equipment is built up approx. 4' above grade.
Please remember that this is not a New Orleans type situation, we are well above sea level and though there may be some street flooding as a result of a lot of rain, we see thunderstorm type events every year that dump more rain then the normal 4-6 inches that occur with a hurricane.
We have implemented our emergency storm plans and have an additional backup generator for DC1 on the way, it should be wired up and in place by Wednesday afternoon, we also have procured plenty of plywood and supplies to board up windows should the storm indeed come this way. We will also pickup food and water supplies for the DC crews tomorrow should they have to stay at the DC for an extended amount of time.
