  • Steroids destroy athletes

Just saw a new commercial from drugfree.org that was encouraging parents to talk to their kids about steroids--as if that is a significant problem with todays kids! WTF--I'm not even gonna rant cause it's like preaching to the choie, but I can't believe they're wasting money on that with all the other drug problems kids deal with everyday. :thumbsdow

ESPN had that senator on a couple of days ago, John Riley I think, preaching about the terrible things of steroids before they had the senate meeting with the MLB owner. They said that about 500,000 kids are using heroine, 500,000 kids are using cocaine, and 4 million kids are using steroids. I don't know the validity of these facts, but that was the claim he was making.

I call bullshit on that. I know that there are a number of kids that are using gear because either their parents or coaches are pushing them to getthe big scores and impress the scouts for colleges etc, etc. I see these as mainly athletes and not everyday kids. To say 4 million is completely absurd. I just ownder if he is using every kid who takes any type of steroidal compound, prescribed or not.

These anti-gear people really need to get off of their high horses and focus on real fucking issues and dismiss the fact that a multi-millionare immigrant bal player is juicing.

Is this a govt sponsored commercial or from the sports leagues anti drug coalition?

Being a kid myself, I can say that steroids are not as big of a problem with kids as many people think they are. Alot of kids are into drugs (me not being one of them) but its marijauna or crack. I don't know of one person my age that is using steroids right now or has before.
