  • man.......................

i feel so fuckin stupid. ok so friday i went to work and spoke to human resources about a problem with my check. see at my work you get paid differently for whatever position you have there. i was getting paid what the operator of my machine gets paid. i had that position earlier this year but i didn't keep it cause it really wasn't worth the difference in pay to what i "should" be getting now. but when i didn't take the job my pay rate didn't drop. i told my shift manager about it and after a few weeks he finally got my rate fixed. but 2 weeks ago my rate changed back to operator pay. i admit i milked it a couple weeks and told my supervisor about it. apparently he never did anything. so when H.R. was going through her paperwork my position there came up how it should. at our computer terminals i show up as the right position. she looked in one of her programs and it was right, and she even asked me if i was sure. i told her yeah, and she said she had one last program to look at. and there it was, i was set as being the operator. now my operator wasn't getting shorted his pay rate, the company was just paying both of us the same thing. my union steward overheard and later told me i probably shouldn't have said anything and kind of laughed about it. but i've been thinking the whole weekend, i probably shouldn't have said anything. i mean i was in the room and it took H.R. a while to find it. without looking into it i highly doubt they would have found out.
oh well. i guess i did the right thing.
    what should i have done?

You did the right thing bro...

Anytime you have the chance to do the right thing it's normally the best thing to do - even if it's not in your best interest (with a few tiny exceptions of course :D).

I agree, you did the right thing, being honest is best..... Just remember, no one can take any money out of your paycheck without your consent, so if they try and take back money, it is your choice to let them, or to not let them...... :bravonew:

You'll have the luxury of putting this behind you and not having to carry the constant thought of if you did the right thing or not plus you won't have to worry about having to pay it back.

Totally unrelated but someone once said, "A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory."

you totally did the right thing, where most people might not have...good on you. Imagine if somebody was getting paid at your rate and not doing the same work, wouldn't it piss you off?
