  • Horse Collar Tackle...

This rule is kind of hard to accept. I understand protecting the players from injuries like TO had. But it gives so much advantage to the ball carrier if he just gets in front of the tackler.

An example that happened tonight, was when one of the Panthers had a stiff arm in the chest of a Packer defender. The defender had his hand grasped on the back of the panther. Now the Panther got an extra 13 yards, because the Packer isn't allowed to pull down on the back of the the Panther and just had to hold on and try and arm tackle the Panther.

i THINK this was after one of the packers guys took that awful hit that made him leave in a stretcher...

i didn't think the play your talking of was very dirty and i think it might have slid if that previous injury hasn't occured....when a hit like that takes place, the refs tend to be more cautious so things don't get out of control

to be honest i thought when one of our panthers guys hit your guy, i thought it looked helmet to helmet, i couldnt tell by the replay if it was intentional or not tho

No this was before all that. The Packer didn't get the tackle until after the Panther picked up the yardage since he didn't want to get the penalty. The penalty they did get for the horse collar tackle I agree was the right call acording to the rules.

If it was the play I saw it looked like the Packer was trying to hit the ball out of Fosters arm and create a fumble more than trying to tackle him. If he had just wrapped him up and tackled him Foster never would have gained 47 yards on the play.

Totally agree with that one. It looked like he was trying to force the fumble the whole way.

But with the horse collar tackle it should be allowed in some cases and not others like you guys are talking about.
