Semen is a natural Prozac. Consider this news from the State University of New York at Albany: A study of 293 women found that those who had sex without condoms scored better on a standard depression questionnaire than those who often used condoms. Women exposed to semen were clearly less depressed, says the lead researcher, Gordon Gallup, Ph.D. It may be because mood-altering hormones in semen are absorbed through the vagina; some have even been detected in women's blood within hours of their having sex. Gallup says he's not advocating unprotected sex as a mood lifter--sex any way you can get it triggers feel-good endorphins, after all--and, besides, an STD or unwanted pregnancy is a real downer.
