  • Standard for passanger weight loads may need to change...

This is sad. I am watching the news about the boat with elderly passangers that tiped over. The Coast Gaurd are doing test to see what could have caused it. One thing they are going to look at is if the weight limits will have to be changed, because Americans are getting "heavier".

I thought I heard on FOX news that another boat came by that created a wake which caused the boat to capsize.

That would make more sense cause a weight limit is a weight limit. Fat people would just mean less passengers. I don't know if they usually do a weight or a passenger limit.

What I read was that the numerical passenger limits on various vehicles and watercraft were based on an adult weight assumption of around 155lbs or so, whereas the average adult now weighs close to 175lbs.

My point is that it's just sad that we have to redo the regulations because people are getting so fat. What will it take to give the general public a wake up call.

I think people are becoming more aware but the fact is a lot of people know and don't care.

Because of those damn Fat Acceptance support groups. It's just another cop out and exuse to not try and change your life. Because it is now the majority they have found ways to make other people with weight problems to feel it's acceptable. What other vice support group tries to convince you that your problem is ok? Fucking ridiculous!

this story bothers me. First they are saying that ONE more crew man would have made a difference...maybe one more life could have been saved, maybe not. Now they are talking about weight. Bottom line is that it was FREAK accident that 2 to 3 different factors had to come into play for that tradegy to take place.

I dont think the general public is really aware of what they are really putting into their body. I know when i first came here and did the BMR or what ever the hell that thing is i was shocked at the simple fact that i could take in that many calories+ with out even trying.

Then i actualy started lookin up some info and running the numbers and i was no longer shocked. Its crazy how many calories, and how much fat you can take it by just eating at what ever fast food place is handy and haveing them several cokes a day.

Man, this just pisses me off. With all the science and technology out there, fuckers are still dropping dead left and right because they can't eat the right foods.. Its so sad, its our number 2 (or is it 1 now) cause of death in this country, and the solutions are not that difficult. I just wish someone would really take this issue on as a "campaign" point, and not an afterthought.

And you guys were expecting me to rant!

Oh, btw, where that happened, in upstate NY. I used to work in a resturuant on that lake. Small world, huh?
