These are pics that I took from in and around my parents house north Of Lake Pontchartrain. A very hard hit area after the storm passed near N.O. I haven't been allowed back into the heavily flooded areas of N.O., so unfortunitely I don't have any pics from that area.

Most of them are from 3 days after the storm once I was able to chainsaw my way back into my family's neiborhood. Some are from a couple weeks after the storm of some of the larger trees that had fallen but had not yet been removed.Originally posted by TimmaComment

That Katrina was one powerful storm. Most people only think about the flooding because thats what the media covered, but places in eastern New Orleans and of course mississippi were demolised completely by the winds.Comment

Thanks NJ....I tell you when we came back after evacuating to see all of this devastation, everything was unrecognizable and this was all so surreal and incredibly shocking to realize that this happened to us. You think, yeah stuff like this happens to other unfortunite people in the world...NOT US!! It gives you a whole new outlook on life. This experience has change the lives of every single person in this community forever. Gone are all the beautiful trees. Gone are all the homes with character. Alot of people I know are never coming back and I don't even know where some of them went to this day. It is so freaky to go from everything being normal 2 days before the storm hit to not knowing where anybody you know is and not being able to communicate with anyone because an entire infrustucture has been decimated.Originally posted by njjuicer
Things are slowly starting to get better each day and I know it may take a few years, but life will eventually get back to how it was before and I believe it will be better than before. School systems in N.O. will become better, poverty levels will drop, houses will be built to better flood codes and be stronger than alot of those shacks that we completed devastated.
Other than that, I've just been busy getting the businesses back up and operating. Take care buddy!!Comment
