Ive been hearing alot about this like...You can/cant get it from eating chicken.Its an airborne disease.US doesnt have a vaccine or the drug that can stop it...Anybody know more about this??? I saw a few people returning chicken at my local Bi-Lo today... Is this a real threat????

Avian flu or chicken flu has been all over the news lately... where have you been? -lolz! j/k Iis it a real threat? Absolutely. In 1918 it killed millions (5% of infected ppl) A potential pandemic. Why? back then they had no antibiotics, we do now which will save lifes, but hospitals may have to turn ppl away due to volume of victims. Pathology-It kills healthy people unlike SARS and West Nile. For instance, A healthy person contracts this disease and dies b4 they get home from work. How? Basically the virus fills the infected persons lungs with fluid. Its not really a flu (hard to explain). This is the underlines issue - the Flu right now is transmitted from bird(s) to human. This is not really the problem. The person dies or is cured and the infected bird dies. Your chances of contraction are slim (or very little). However, the virus will mutate (as they all do thats why we have a diff. flu vaccine every year) Its not a matter of "if" but "when." The mutation will allow the diesese to be transferable from human to human contact. It will move quick and potentially whipe out lots of ppl
Is their a vaccine? Yes I believe but in very limited amounts. Right now part of the problem is the US gov. responded so slowly to the potential threat that now we are in line to get the vaccine behind several other countries. How this helps?
