Punta Gorda, Florida - Forecasters say Hurricane Wilma was upgraded to a Category five hurricane early this morning.
Geez...I haven't been down there since right after Charlie hit but I don't think they've fully recovered from last year. So many old people there, hope they get out and stay safe.
I have never seen a storm intensify to a 5 this quickly. This is scary.
Yes that say it is a tightly wrapped storm no other really like it. they Hurricane winds only go out about 15-20 miles from the eye
the only good thing i see about it is that It is a fast moving storm so it shouldn't last long when or whereever it hits
It is now the strongest hurricane ever recorded with a pressure of 882mb and sustained winds of 175mph.
It has the perfect combonation of things happening for it right now (very weak upper level winds and extremely warm water). I don't think it will stay this strong for long, but one thing people need to think about is that a storm this size usually over powers any fronts that may try to steer it in a different direction. A perfect example of that is katrina and rita. Personally I think the entire gulf coast should keep an eye out.
I think anyone who lives on the coastline under sea level and has any brains would move. The same shit will be happening next year, everything will get blown away again. That doesn't sound like fun to me? I think i'll just drive down to the beach to get my sun rays and relaxation. Then drive back home so I don't have to worry about all my belongings being blown away. Doing that instead of living there.

What some of you don't understand is that this is our homes. This is our communities, our friends, the very fabric of what defines us. You can't just say oh well a few storms came our way so we are gonna pack it up and leave and go somewhere else that is totally unfamiliar. You have to be resolute and determined to overcome and rebuild and make stronger communities. It is our duty. Every major city in history that has gone through some sort of disaster has rebuilt and come back even better and thats what we intend to do.
Its easy for people that don't live here to say "oh that's just stupid to live there, just move away", but I guarantee if the shoe were on the other foot, they wouldn't be saying that.
The port of New Orleans supplies a very large percentage of goods to the entire nation, not to mention the oil from the gulf to supply fuel to each and every one of us. To downplay the role that the Gulf Coast states play in the economic impact on this country is simply stupid. People need to live here just to fill the very important jobs to keep this enormous economic machine running down here.

Sorry bro, you dont' know me. If I were in your shoes i'd be moving instead of rebuilding every year. Rebuilding every year doesn't sound like fun to me. lol I can understand rebuilding once, but twice, no pity on you for not moving, you had it coming. And talking about all the money that comes into those ports. Well seems how they're going to be rebuilding the levy's to what they were and no stronger. We'll end up spending more billions next year for the next hurricane. When I don't see LA coming up out of this and making up the 100 billions that was spent recently. Especially, if you have that dumbass governor and mayor of New Orleans running the show. We need to sell LA back to the french, and let them rebuild it, then take if back over. lol j/k

That's uncalled for, espeacially when talking to someone who lost just about everything.
