I believe the 330i is around $38k. All the mercedes stuff cost way more than that unfortunately.

Mercedes are sweet but too expensive for me! I don't care for most of the 300 series but I really like the 330ci. I don't care for the Audi A4's at all. Just to plain looking. I like the look of the TT but it is a little to small for me.

I've never been a big fan of Mercedes. I know they're changing now but they used to be just a rich man's car, while the BMW was always a drivers car, imo. There are some nice mercedes now, but dollar for dollar I'd take a bmw over a mercedes anyday.

Does it have the ZHP package? If so, its as close to getting an M3 as you can get. If you look around you can find a used E46 M3 for low to mid $30K. I don't know what your planning on spending, but for the most part BMW's are really reliable. If you like the car, don't drive an M3. If you do, it will be hard to settle for anything less. I own two bimmers an E36 M3/4 and a 318i, love them to death. If your a big MOFO you might wanna look into a 540i, for the money that you would spend on the 330i new you can find a hella nice 540. Goodluck, LT

TSX is what I drive. I want to save a bit of money and get myself the NSX-T version:)
If you're willing to pay that much why don't you get a 05 ZO6 which would be about $25,000 cheaper, or even a Viper. Unless you're getting it just cuz it's rare I could kinda understand that, but damn 90k for that.
              Comparison

There was a time once when the nsx owned the vette's. That time has passed. With the $25k you spend, you can invest in upgrades and really put the spanking to the nsx.

ya the vett is cheeper by 25k but lets see the price of a 1 year old vette compared to a 1 year old nsx? thats crazy the vette has a better skid pad testing than the nsx i wouldnt have thought that.

A coworker has a 330i and is giving it to his wife and buying a new 330i. He absolutely loves it and I am gonna get one in about 2 years. You have to get the sports package. Without it the car is just not the same in looks and performance wise.

Glad to hear that he enjoys it. The one I'm looking at has the sports package. I think they are sharp looking cars. Going to test drive it early next week.

Don't have the money for an NSX. :D No way would I spend over a grand a month on a car payment. That's crazy!

I'm not really sure what that means HP 2 HP, the vette has nearly 225 more horse power with 505 hp and the nsx has 280. Mabe your talking about power to weight ratio which the NSX doesn't even come close:
                            Z06:
                            Weighs
                            Weighs 3130 lbs---Power is 505 hp
1 to 6 power to weight ratio which is damn good

                            NSX:
                            Weighs 3153 lbs---Power is 280 hp
1 to 11 power to weight ratio which is descent

and to answer you question on cylinders the Z06 has 8 like always, and the NSX has 6, so even in that scenario the Z06 is making 63 hp to each cylinder and the NSX is making 46 to each cylinder. Now don't get me wrong rado the NSX is a sweet looking car just underpowered and overpriced imo for 90k. ;)

                              the 330i's are nice
very close to the hp as the m3's still lovely to ride, best friend has an m3 and xi both very very smooth and very driver friendly, my only qualm with the one you choose is color, everyone has the silver in the 3 series go bold and get that deep metallic black, they also make a forest metallic green looks very very nice at night all polished under the lights

I have a 2003 325i. It is okay. I am itching for a new car (vette or maybe another BMW). My biggest complaint is the 325 is too slow for me. i personally like to feel more power in a vehicle. I have driven the 330i and it had more power. However, the new 2006 330i is even faster.

You might want to consider a BMW that is warranty. My car is still in warranty, but I have had atleast 10 tail lights go out in 2 years, the computer reprogrammed 4 times for power surges and bad starts, and the air conditioner serviced 3 times for odor/mold problems. The nice thing about getting it from the dealer in warranty is that all maintenance is also covered, (lights, oil change, wind shield wipers, brakes, etc.) Out of warranty work is very expensive. A friend of mine just had his 2001 330i serviced (oil change, brakes, the works) and spent $500. Which is supposed to be normal.

Whatever you get I'm sure you will enjoy. I think it is a great feeling to drive your new clean car on a sunny day.
