  • I'm out of commission

hello, sorry for not being on here in forever... I injured my right knee really bad and I can hardly put any weight on it, it kills to walk up steps. I haven't been to the gym in like a month. I may try going today. I've been doing knee rehab exercises to help, but nothing seems to help. I can walk w/o pain, but when I bend it and put weight on it, watch out! I'm feeling so out of shape and this I'm sure isn't gonna help with my weight loss goals.

Actually, I don't know, one night I was teaching gymnastics and I noticed it hurting mor and more as the night went on. I was teaching the routines and I know that we do something called a split jump where one leg goes forward and the other to the back. My right knee would be my back leg. I think maybe I wasn't landing great and in about 2 hours I probably did about 50 of them. I went home that night and could hardly walk up the stairs, I couldn't put any weight on my knee at all. I figured it would go away after a while, but it still hurts and I can hardly bend it with weight on it. I had a dr's appt but then everyone talked to me abobut how much of a waste of time it was for me to go, because there isn't anything any dr. can do for knees... I got some rehab info from the gymnastics gym and have been doing that.

If you hurt it coaching that would be a workers comp. case, annd that might be why they are telling you not to go to a Dr. And yes a Dr. can help. He can determine if you tore something or not. If you did tear something you should not be walking and doing other things which will only make it worse.

it wasn't my work telling me not to go, it was my mom and husband. they have bad knees and they've been to the dr's for years and there's nothing any dr. can do for their knee pain. The only difference with me is that mine is an injury and theirs is cronic.

Ok....you did fill out an injury report for work though...right? I hope so anyway. Regardless of what your mom or husband has had, you need to see a Dr. for yourself to find out. I had injured my knee years ago when an extension ladder slid out from underneath me, and I am sure that is when I first tore my MCL. Not a complete tear but just enough that my knee would constantly pop in and out of place...believe me, it hurts. With the partial tear, later came a complete tear of the MCL and I also blew out my ACL. If I had caught the partial tear at first and had it fixed, I probably would have never tore the rest of it and blew out the ACL. Please...get it checked out.

Well, I just made another appt. and I promise I will keep it. It's not for another week, so I am going 11/9 Maybe they will be able to see what I did to it.

Now who in their right mind would tell you that? I'm sorry but those people are not the brightest. There are doctors that specialize in that kind of stuff called orthroscopic surgeons. They help people with knee problems everyday. Your regular doctor is just going to refer you to them if he knows what he's doing. I had knee surgery a couple years ago because of a tear to my meniscus. Sounds like you have a problem with your ACL. Now granted I still have problems with my knee, but that is due to the activities I do, such as golf. Now go to the damn doctor and don't listen to those other people.
