  • Who has had laser surgery (eyes) and how much did it cost?

I'm thinking about getting this done in December some time so I'm wondering how many people here have had this procedure done.

    How much did it cost?

How well is your vision now?

Has it gotten any worse since the surgery?

Has it hindered your night vision at all?

    Any other comments?

    Thanks guys!

It's down to $299 per eye now, and that's not in mexico. The average you'll find it at is about $500 per eye. They've been doing these for like ever now. It's pretty much a mastered science. You'll be very happy if you do get it done. Just make sure it's from someone reputable, not in mexico though.

hey man, its cheap down in mexico. My buddy got it done about 3 years ago, with a reputable eye doctor. He wore those coke bottle glasses, like a 7-8. something. Now he's a 20/20 vision. Im thinking about getting it done too. My vision aint that high but without contacts i cannot see shit and my head hurts.

I had it done about 3 months ago, it cost me 1500 for both eyes, which is a pretty good deal. The doctor did some of my friends as well as some professional athletes and everyone is happy with it. I havent had my vision tested again to see what it is, but i can tell you I can see very well now. The only problems I've had were the dry eyes at first, they still dont tear like they used to but it is not uncomfortable or anything, and for a while there the streetlights and taillights of cars would look really weird there would be 3 of them but that has gradually gotten better. I would do it again in a heartbeat. The whole thing takes about 5 mins, they sit you down give you valium, take you in the room put a thing in your eye to hold it open, slice the eye to make the flap, then they put the laser over your eye and give it a few zaps (you can smell your eyeball cooking, kinda nasty) and put the flap back over and you blink and the flap reattaches itself and you then go to the next eye. The couple of days after kind of sucked, vision blurry, sensitive to light, but definitely worth it. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know.

Damn, I had no idea that any cutting was involved. I saw on shows like extreme makeover how they just went in, went under the laser, made some noise and then that was it. And their vision had improved right then, and the doc said just give it a few hours and it should be totally up to par.

Three people at work had it done and I am thinking of it too. They all told me to wait until I am older because their doctor told them the sooner you get it the sooner you will need reading glasses. I guess the surgery weakens your close vision. But they all have had it for several years now and have no problems whatsoever.
