  • Wow...Bodies

I went to see the Bodies Exhibition here in Tampa yesterday and all I can say is "Wow!" what an incredible display. It features dozens of preserved bodies and dozens of preserved body parts.

It was created by 55 Dr's in China with bodies donated by the Chinese gov. I can't even begin to express how intriguing it was to see. They removed the water and blood and replaced it w/polymers then they removed all of the skin so you could see all the muscles and skeleton.

Another cool part was the "corrosion casting," which is where they inject thepolymers into the cardio system and the chemically removed the flesh, bone and muscle so all you see is the cardio system. Truly amazing. And to think the conservatives here were trying to ban it because "it held no educational benefit."

The Fetal Development portion was quite surreal. Looking at a fetus from 10, 12, 18, and 22 weeks and seeing how much it changed...amazing...to imagine that it grows inside of another human being.

I went to see it twice, and like you said it is amazing. On the topic of the fetal development topic, not to start a war, but after seeing that, you get a better understanding of what you are doing in an abortion. Like I said, I am not saying I am for or against, but it gives you a better understanding of the stages.

Abortion is a very touchy subject and as you said, after seeing that you tend to put things in a different perspective.

I will be going again for sure. It's headed for New York next. Tampa was the first stop in the US...pretty cool.

This is one of the "corrosion casts" of the blood vessels in the lungs filled w/a polymer and dyed so you can see them.

In motion...and in the back you can faintly see the musclature of a body holding its on skeleton in balance.

Do you know what cities they're heading to in the US--they must have a website or something? I'd love to see that.

                        http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/

I would love to see it in person too but right now it looks like it is only in Tampa and then moving to NY. Maybe they'll come closer to me in the future...

the exhibit was very informative, descriptive, and graphic
i recently saw it here in Philly
The fetal stages were also intersting to say the least
