  • I should have called in today!

So i work for a college, someone from our computer department put a wrong date in the system so every single student that was registered for next semester got drop/deleted from their classes. That is close to 14,000 students. So now part of my job is to find out what classes they were registered for, and input them all manually.

I hope that idiot gets fired.

So all the phones are ringing off the hook, from students screaming and yelling that they have no classes showing up for next semester.

that sucks. If i was a student there i would be pretty pissed to. You know no matter how hard everyone trys to get it back just the way it was. some student is gona get messed up and not be able to get in their classes, or they are gona get put in the wrong section of the class ect... thats just a bad deal.

We got a list of all the students that got dropped, but the problems that we are encountering is that other students got their spots in the classes so now we have to kick them out register the students that had priority and then call them to tell them what happen.

Sorry to tell you this, but UR MIS dept sucks.

There is NO way that they should not have had that kind of data backed up 10 ways from Sunday. PIT copies, tapes, D2D copies, etc.

Somebody should get fired for a mistake like this, its inexcusable. Now, I may be the directors fault (the MIS staff was making all the recommendations and getting no support/money) but there is just NEVER a situation where this kind of thing should come up.

I work for a City, and let me tell you something, if we lost all the water bills from one billing cycle (monthly) we would ALL be looking for new jobs, and the whole dept would be outsourced.

              It totally inexcusable.
