  • new year's resolution????

So I was at the gym today -- figured it'd be a great day to work out since I don't have work, and the gym's open from 10AM - 2PM. I was doing deadlifts and the cleaning guy comes over and says something to me like, "ahh, workin' out for your New Year's Resolution." So I said, "no, I work out all the time," pretty matter-of-factly. I guess he didn't hear me, cause he followed up with something like, "good that you're in here today, better try to keep it up the rest of the year." Luckily I wasn't in a roid-rage disposition, because I actually got pretty angry that he thought I was one of come-ten-times-a-year gym-goers. I compete! I go to the gym two and three times a day when I'm getting ready for shows! And now all these New Years Resolution people are making me look bad...

I dunno, I guess it's just an angry rant, but it did help me rock out on deadlifts...and I guess it does inspire me to eat and train and come back looking like Dexter Jackson (right...) so he'll never mistake me for a part-time gym-goer again

You should have banged out some 400+ pound deads, looked at the guy, and siad "see you next year!"

i fucking hate this time of year when the gym is crowded with idiots who don't know what they're doing and have no idea of what gym ettiquette is. it always lasts for a month or two and then some same people who are locked into stupid contracts give up and go away.

I'd say at least 50% of the new-year's-resolution-gym-goers never come back after their second or third month. Makes me sick. I'm lucky- my gym is open 24 hours and I go late. I never have to see most of them.

I was wondering why the gym was busier than I've ever seen it yesterday. I guess it was all those resolution freaks. I don't make new years resolutions--I guess I figure if it wasn't important enough to me on December 1st, why is it on January 1st.

Don't let that person even bother you a bit. Like water on a duck. He just works there and most likely does not lift too much himself.

I hate this time of year. All the damn resolutioners come in and crowd up the place. Then they leave as fast as they come.

HOWEVER I have to thank them as well. The revenue they generate for the gym helps with improvements and keeping the doors open for the ones that lift all year. So it is a catch 22 that we have to suffer to contirbute to our goals.

That's a good point. I was wondering where all those new machines came from.
