  • UFC 'THE NATURAL' RETIRES

I'm gutted to see Randy retire, there was so much shit about his age blah blah blah, after his first loss to sloth face the guy came back and choked van arsewhale whatever and then looses to chuck 'the retard features' in a 'championship' bout. So what? randy's still the second best at 205lb in my opinion, why retire just because every jelous fuck goes on about his age?

Also I believe that if they really want UFC to become as big as boxing they should amend the rules. I think that when the fighter get on the floor it should be chokes and submissions allowed only, no striking. In that fight chuck was so quick to dash round and batter Randy's head into the canvas after he went down I was actually feeling disgusted. If that was the other way round Randy would have gone for the mount first. Thats essentially why Randy lost, he isn't savage enough but he surely is about the best representative of the sport

The ufc is no holds barred almost. You should've seen randy in his younger days. He is a savage and has ground n pounded guys like vitor belfort into submission. It's a part of the game. If you jaw someone bad enough to put them on the mat, then you're supposed to go to town on them. You can still defend yourself in that situation. Randy is second best in the LHW class, but he can't get the belt back and that's pretty much it for him then. There's really not much reason for him to continue if he's the age he is and can't be a champion anymore. Hopefully, UFC will allow a fight with pride again and we'll see another rampage vs liddell fight. That will be good. Either that or wanderlei silva.

I totally agree--it's all about fighting till you've beat the other guy to submission or submitted him via another means. You can still defend yourself when you're on the ground unless you're already hurt, so you should be able to pound the guy when he's on the ground. It's just really important that the refs stop it when it needs to be stopped cause you can get hurt quickly that way, but that's part of the game.
There's first and then there's the rest. A champion wouldn't have any interest in fighting if he can't still be champ. It's sad to see former champs in all sports that continue for the money or other reasons. I'm glad he retired now.

He's just saying it should be stopped when it needs to be. So far many of the refs have been good about it. However a lot of them in pride are jumping in too early.

I see where your coming from, but by that logic, van arsedale should retire and most of the rest that have been beaten by Chuck. Randy is well capable of beating most of the others and maybe chuck on another day as he did before. But I suppose like you say its best to go out at the top of your game.

I wish someone would beat that ugly Andreas heavyweight as well

Van Arsdale is getting old and technically, he's only versed in one skill, wrestling, and unfortunately, you won't get far without something else like good striking or bjj. The younger guys like babalu are more easily able to bounce back and learn and possibly come back for the belt. Randy unfortunately is unable to probably cause of his age. It's taken it's toll on him. Chuck is solid right now, very solid. If babalu doesn't take him, then I can only see the guys in pride being able to do so. You have to outstrike chuck and then take him into the third round where he starts to get sloppy with his punches. That's his achilles heal. That's exactly what rampage did to him. No one in UFC will take out arlovski. Maybe monson will, but arlovski is too versed in striking and submission. A very deadly combo. But once again, pride owns the best fighters when it comes to the heavyweights.

:agree: I was saying that they should be allowed to pound them when they're down, but the refs have to be smart about stopping it when they clearly aren't able to or attempting to defend themselves. On the other hand, they shouldn't just stop it because he's down--pride has had some stupid ref stoppages.

Just about, but the first round is 10 mins and the rest are 5 mins. They also fight in a normal boxing ring instead of an octagon. There are some minor rule differences but nothing major. Technically still good ole no holds barred fighting. Each one has their good and bad points. That's why I watch both. Usually the pay per views for pride have much better cards. This last one was awesome.
