I didn't post this in the nutrition section because it's more of a curiosity. My wife brought home some raw honey(straight from the hive) from Poland. It tastes really good and i can't find any real info comparing raw honey to store bought honey.

I've never had it before. If it's the wax, it makes a little bit go further. I don't know how to explain it, but I put some in my oatmeal before the gym. It gave it a natural sweet taste like you would get from fruit, instead of a sugar taste like candy.

Shibby.....I really don't know the difference between the two, but I do know that you shouldn't give your newborn baby raw honey during the first year of his life. Spores found in raw honey have a toxic affect on an infant's underdeveloped defense systems.

Raw honey has not been heated and filtered to the extremes that commercial honey's have been, it is often sold with the waxy honeycomb but also without. It will have considerably more pollen and natural attributes this way. Raw honey has been said to have numerous medical benefits such as acting as a natural antibiotic, healing stomach ailments like ulcers, helping alleviate allergy symptoms, skin ailments, etc. With the high pollen content it should not be given to babies as an allergic reaction can happy quickly, just like with nuts and seafood. I don't know about what properties would be passed through breastmilk.
