I swear it's easier to buy a car than get a cell phone. My step dad went to cingular to see about changing phones and they ran his credit. They told him he needs $800 deposit on each phone. When my grandparents when to get there phones they had to put down a $500 deposit on each phone. Now I know both of there credit is fine.

Yeah, the part that sucks worse is that in order to get your deposit back you have to have had service all the way through the contract and never been late on one bill. The will only give your deposit back once the bill has not been late or past due for 12 months.

Is it for a month to month payment option or is it an actual 1-2 year contract?Originally posted by ShibbyWell it's really got bad in the last couple years. It seems each year they require more and more of a deposit.Last edited by coffee-guy; 02-25-06, 09:41 AM.

I know this isnt about cell phones but same crap, I have been with my power company for 2-3 years now and since we are moving out of the city we received a phone call from a competing power company and they made there plan sound great so I phoned my original company to tell them i wanted to change over.. They told me I have to pay 600 bucks to switch over??? so i talked to my wife and we agreed that switching would save more money in the long run. Soo I phoned the new company and said how do i sign up?? They said ok we will send someone over, So i waited they showed up and i filled out some forms and i received a phone call the next day, the lady told me very nice like you have to put a $$$1200 deposit on all new accounts.... what the @#$% are you kidding you fags couldnt have told me that in the first place!!! way to convince me to join and like shibby said I didnt have any bad credit what so ever!!! Hell I just bought a new house... So im with my original company and they put my 600 buck that i payed to switch over on to credit cause they cant give the money back!!!! :cursin: :cursin: :cursin: :cursin:

You know the companies can do what ever they want. They could probably give it back, it's just if you want to fight them enough for them to give it back. You can request a copy of the cancelation agreement, then see if they should give it back. But that's up to you wheather it's worth it or not.Originally posted by johnstephensonI know this isnt about cell phones but same crap, I have been with my power company for 2-3 years now and since we are moving out of the city we received a phone call from a competing power company and they made there plan sound great so I phoned my original company to tell them i wanted to change over..
