  • LA for a week

my fiancee and I will be in LA for a week, with nothing to do but work out, probably Golds in Venice, maybe I'll visit World's in Marina Del Rey

anywhere should make sure to go, or anything I should make sure to do? I heard it's rainy there next week, can't be too promising

I just saw the weather report, and it's gonna be rainy on monday and tuesday, and good for the rest of the week. I don't trust the weather reports aroun here anyways, they completely missed the last tuesday's weather. Glowalla made some good suggestions,Do you know where in LA you guys are going to stay? If you can tell us the location we might be able to give you better suggestions.

I lived on the westside for 9 years.

        restaurants:
        Apple Pan - Burgers & Apple Pie(westwood & olympic)
        Tito's - Greasey Mexican(sepulveda & washington)
C&O Trattoria - Italian (washington at the beach)
Killer Shrimp - Shrimp (in marina del rey)

        Shopping & people watching:
        3rd Street Promonade
        Boardwalk at Venice beach
        West Hollywood

        Clubs:
Hermosa Beach Pier (laid back beach crowd)
        Westwood (UCLA college crowd)
West End Santa Monica (good mix of people)
West Hollywood (standard hot city clubs)

        Amusement Parks:
Magic Mountain - No question the best park for rides.
Disney Land - no explanation needed
Knotts Berry - Knott worth it.
Universal - Fun area at night.

        Beaches:
Zuma Beach north of Malibu good for surfin (or watching) and chillin
Hermosa/Manhattan Beaches are good for volleyball and fun young crowd
I would stay away from any beach in between LAX and Malibu. Dirty and filled with tourists.

I can tell you my fave place to watch a movie, get a asian "rub-down", buy a bag of weed, go on a trail run, watch the sunset, etc. Just let me know of any specific questions.

Clothes shopping: Garment District (Los Angeles St. & Olympic) I think it's off the 10 or 110 freeway downtown. 18 square blocks of fun...bring cash and some walking shoes...the deals are endless. Oh yeah, you can by a rolling duffle bag for like $15 while there, fill it up with your goodies and check your bag when flying home...enjoy...

thanks so much guys, no internet the first couple days, so it was a lot of feeling in the dark. Eventually, with my fiancée training for junior USAs, we spent a whole lot of time at Gold's, but did make it to the 3rd St. Promenade, and drove up PCH, all the way up to a bit past Zuma Beach, ate at Moonshadows, and basically decided we'd move out there

so Tinfish, we'll follow in your footsteps, soon enough
