  • The Half Ton Man....on TLC

Ok....so I was watching TLC last night and they had this show about this man that weighed 1,072 pounds. WTF? How does someone let themselves go like this? On the show they said that when they went to remove him from his home, they had to tear down a wall and that his skin had stretched to it's max and he was leaking fluid from it. This guy was married too! His wife should be put away for letting/helping him get like this. Anyone esle see this?

Oh...another thing...on the show he said that if someone were to tell him he couldn't do something, he would tear them to shreds....WTF? This fat bastard couldn't move, how the hell would he whoop someones ass?

Holy crap! I would pray to die if I ever got like that. It has to be some kind of mental illness. No rationally thinking person would be OK with living like that. I mean, you can't dress yourself, you can't get up and do anything, he probably can't even shit by himself, can't bathe himself. Geez...disgusting.

They said he was missing something that lets the body know when the stomach is full. He always felt hungry. Regardless...family, friends and his wife are morons for letting this happen!

I don't care what chemical you're missing--he wasn't blind. If you're fat, stop eating so much-seems pretty simple to me.

in another segment of the show, an experiment they ran illustrated that morbidly obese people have fewer receptors in their brain that are stimulated from foods that they like, so they have to eat far more to receive the same stimulation that the rest of us do. I'm sure they also have a few metabolic deficiencies...I didn't catch the whole show

Yea, he lacked the same amount of dopamine receptors that normal people do. Kind of like cocaine addicts. They need to revert to other means to receive the same stimulation that normal people do. I believe they also said that he lacks lectin or something. It's a chemical that tells the brain that you're full. If you don't have it, then you just want to keep eating. He kept on trying to say that it was all genes and that he didn't over eat. LOL

He doesn't! He had been bedridden(sp?) for over a year! They said on the show, he was covered with bodily fluids and fecal matter!
