Limewire Question

I do not know if this is true, but I heard this from a friend.
Limewire is ran through multiple frewalls, making it hard to locate the source, that is why it has not been shut down yet.

You have NEVER had one file that was not the file it was labeled as or any files w/noise (such as beeps or crackling)?

I use Limewire if there is a single song I can't find through torrent, but other than that I use strictly torrents. I've dl'd nearly 120Gb and have not had one noisey, mislabeled, or corrupt file.

If you're dl'ing large quantities of files...especially movies, software, or full cd's, torrents are the only way to go. It's not as cut and dry as LImewire or other P2P's but its multitudes more efficient.

Then why isn't there some type of disclaimer or something on the website?? And why wouldn't it be shut down like the Napsters of the world??? Their whole appeal is that it's "shared music". Therefore, I thought it's just a bunch of peeps with all kinds of different songs on their computer allowing others to download.

I don't know why they don't state all of that, but they should. I think they aren't shut down because they are just providing the software in which to use p2p sharing, I think napster kept all the songs and stuff in their own database once it was downloaded from other peers, so therefore they were providing the copyrighted material, instead of just the peers. The same kind of goes for bittorrent, you can't shut isohunt or torrentspy down, they just provide the means for you to hook up with other people and then download from there. It's not all totally illegal, if you've already paid for whatever you're downloading. Like if you own the faith hill cd, you can download those songs from someone.

I've found that movies and video games usually end up being corrupt with bittorrent.

Oh, I didn't most of the time, just every once in a while. It may also be my computer. Sometimes it shuts down all of a sudden and that may be messing up the download in between. I hate the guys that put passwords on their zip files though.

limewire stays free cause they just moved their servers to Switzerland.


and i hate those songs that play and halfway through it turns to static and a loud beeping. it hurts my ears so much. :mad:

Yeah, that is the only problem I've had. 90% of my files are music, but sometimes I need software or to check out a movie.
