I just had to take 5-6 wks off for a broken rib. I just ate to maintain body weight, eating about 1.5gms protein/lb lbm, about 60gms of fat and the rest carbs. I did cardio about 3-4x/wk and didn't lift at all because I didn't want to take the chance of prolonging my recovery time.
Good luck and take it easy and come back hard when you're ready!

First I am glad you are OK! Second dude your car is messed up :)
At this point only thing you should worry about is healing. I wouldn't worry about the diet or the exercise. Gains you made are not going anywhere you might feel like they are but beleive me you'll be OK, remember...muscle memory! Plus with broken wrist and ribs you can't do shit, especially with broken ribs you are lucky if you can breath without the stabing pain,I had broken ribs from the seat belt, man it hurt like a mofo until they healed. So remember heal first then workout, there is no point of going to the gym and do a half ass job or gettin hurt more while doing something else. I know some people are going to disagree with me but,my health comes first. Lifting comes second.
      Again get well soon.

I don't think my physique changed a ton, but I was weak the first week back and a lot stronger the second week and about back to normal the third week. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Yes, I kept the protein near max what I thought my body would use, kept my somewhat standard amount of fat and filled the rest to my BMR/AMR with carbs.

Go with everything BBAddict said. The continous stimulation through cardio will keep your muscles from atrophying to much.
