  • Could you live without SportsCenter?

My wife will have fun with me and change the channel as soon as I wake up to sports center, and giving my a big smile. Granted nothing else is on and I can't explain how great she is. But I could go to a place without business and cell phone coverage and still be happy as long as I got ESPN (assuming baseball *barf* isn't the only thing on).

I have been on full ESPN boycott (no sportscenter, no espn.com) ever since they hired ex-Bears and ex-Dolphins GM Rick Spielman, who led both teams to 4 - 12 seasons. The dolphins had some of the worst drafts ever under Spielman capped off by what might be the biggest QB trade in the history of the NFL, the acquisition of AJ Feeley (currently san fran's #3 QB) for a 2nd round draft pick. By comparison, NE got Corey Dillion for a 2nd round draft pick. Dolphins got Duante Culpepper for a 2nd round draft pick. Spielman got Philly's 3rd string QB who had started 4 NFL games and missed his entire senior college season for a 2nd round draft pick. Spielman's personnel anlaysis is absolutely horrendous. And, if ESPN considers Spielman's analysis even the least bit valid, then ESPN loses all credibility with me.

haha, so you have thought about this :) I barely even know the name Spielman if that helps.

I am sick of Mel Kiper being on there so much lately! Something about him just makes me want to throw a brick at my tv.

I used to be that way when I was a young'un. Now, I watch hardly any TV (probably about 15 min. in the last month). About the only thing my wife and I ever see is the Food Channel, so we downgraded our Dish Network subscription to the lowest possible package ($19.95 per mo.) - it doesn't have ESPN and I haven't missed it in the slightest.

Well you are :ghey: lol. I have narrowed down my typical TV watching, but I love sports too much to try and ignore. Literally that's all I could do to get rid of sports, go cold turkey on it.

I used to watch a lot of sports in my twenties and early thirties. Now, it just doesn't do much for me - I'd rather just read a book. Just on the long road to fuddy-duddy-hood, I guess...lol...

Bro...if that makes you happy then that is the best thing for you. Me, on the other hand, I have to have sportcenter during the college football season. It's the only way I know who won or lost. ESPN College Gameday is the sh!t!

Well you refered to your thirties as your past, so I will give you some slack there. I'm not quite to my thirties yet :D.

I'll be 40 in September, so I am almost officially middle-aged...lol.

And don't get me wrong - I like sports and consider myself reasonably knowledeable on the topic, but I just can't get motivated to watch it on tv any more. It has slid down a few notches on the priority list of things in my life.
