  • Send a brick to congress to show your support to protect the borders

    http://www.send-a-brick.com/

This is an interesting concept. For $12 a brick you can have it delivered to your state represenatives.

Why just the southern border? That is not the only border that needs to be protected.

I didnt see many Canadians out protesting this week, F'ing up traffic and making our local economy suffer. I have worked with Mexican immigrants in more jobs than not and some of them have been here illegally. Its not like I hate them or am racist. It just pisses me off when some ignorant bastard is waving a mexican flag and claiming that he wants to be allowed to be an american citizen. They already get free education and medical care. I'm not so sure about paying somone $12 to send a brick for me. I would rather do it myself. even if it does cost more. Then after my pissed of rant about this we can get into the Indian resercations and casinos that get the benefits of the US but dont have to play by our rules. :cursin:

Ya, nevermind the fact that they were here before us and we came along and booted them off there own land. But ya, they should be forced to play by "our rules". There is no "our". The government would just as easily kick you off your land if they decided to build a road or something of that nature. They are not on your side. By making statements such as you did above, you really make yourself seem very foolish.

I dont see it that way at all. Its foolish that I feel that everyone in this country should pay taxes and obey the same laws? As far as the "they were here first arguement", yea they were and all throughout history people have been fighting over land. Dont get me wrong, I feel bad about the things that happened to people in the past but I dont see how that equates to special treatment for their children several generations down the line. I'm sure sometime in the past my family was wronged somehow but I'm not getting anything for it. Its the same reason we dont pay anything to the descendants of slave. Yes, it was atrocious and wrong but theres nothing we as people or the government can do about it now other than not do it again. As far as the government not being on MY side, you have point but you have to take the bad with the good. I'm sure you enjoy the benefits of living in this country and I do to, even though I totally disagree with many of the things our government does.

The protests hardly put a dent in the economy. Mexicans, legal or illegal, are some of the hardest working people I know. Please don't get me started on what the white man has done to the Indians!

I get where Rockiller is coming from. We can learn from our past, but we can't dwell on it. Right or wrong our country is what is now, and so many people want to come here. We need to protect it from those who want to destroy it and imploding from overpopulation. My big issue is with the illegals demanding amnesty. My wife is having to wait in line for her green card and it's not an easy process. What makes an illegal better than my wife. She hasn't broken any laws and isnt' demanding rights that are not hers. She is waiting for those privlages.

The Indians are a completely different situation. They were restricted to reservations with in our country. We can't deny them what they already have or send them across any border.

thats my point. he went from illeagal imigrants to ranting about indians. just sounds stupid, the 2 have nothing to do with each other.

IMO, we took alot away from them and i think they deserve whatever little "extra" they happen to get.

I agree and it's also not coming out of our pockets for the most part. Unlike with illegal immigrants. But I see how the two crossed into the discussion, because we did take land from mexico also.

I presume since most the mexicans want and American way of life, we just annex mexico, giving everyone more land and more resources. I know we would then have to secure our bourder with south america, but it would be MUCH smaller area. Then of course mexicans would worry about loosing there culture. Well hell, what's going to happen once the implement themselves into our country. It's a "wanting your cake and eat it too" situation.

They are some of the hardest working people you know people? Who are? All mexicans? Hardly. They are just like any other group, some work and some dont. Its not a racist thing its the truth. You obviously dont live where I do and maybe you werent effected by the protest and you might not see how stupid it is. Thats your problem. As far as the "white man", who the hell is that? Like I said people have been killing eachother and taking eachothers land for hundreds of years. The "indians" whol lived here didnt really get it any worse than a lot of other civilizations that were taken over. Thats really harsh and I dont feel like it was the right thing to do but you cant change it.

True, they arent the same but there are similarities. Both groups have been "oppressed" in American society, both say they want equal rights yet they want the benefits without the responsibility. Originally, I wasnt really drawing a comparison, and maybe shouldnt have brought it up but both issues are a major concern in my area.

As far as the whole annex Mexico, I'm not really educated enough on the situation but even if it was a good idea, which I doubt, I dont think it would ever happen. Interesting to think about though.

It would never happen and is a very radical thought.

especially not with their new drug laws.

Like I said, or meant to say...the Mexicans I know are hard workers! No, I don't live where you live, but we have a lot of Mexicans around here and they work their asses off in the tomato and mushroom fields and in construction. Drive around this town on any given Sunday where new construction is taking place and guess who you see working, framing and roofing...the Mexicans! They didn't stop and protest around here. If they did where you live..that makes it your problem...not mine.
