I am one of those that hates the people that get them cause they think they are cool. Mine mean something. Those barbed wire ones are the worst especially if they dont get them all the way around the arm. I know how you feel Rocket with all these people getting them.

And tattoo artists hate the people that pull out the big story about meaning - if you like something and that's the only reason - so be it ;)

I have two nautical stars on my back - they don't mean a darn thing. I just happen to like stars.

I should have explained a little more. I dont totally hate those people cause one of mine I got cause it was cool, but it's something not many people would have if any. The thing I dont like is how so many people get butterflies or pixies or stuff like that. I like when it's something original, like your stars. I bet not many people have those if any at all.

I understand - there are some tattoos that probably a million people have (and have exactly the same way). I just think ANY tattoo is an expression of that person in some way - (even if it's "I'm a follower") JK! We can still be friends :P

But it's still cool to you to express that meaning in a tattoo. Even if no one else thought it was cool, you would probably still do it. I guess there's a difference between getting one because you think it's cool and getting one because you think it makes you cool to other people. The latter is just dumb.

Mine don't have "meaning" in the designs but they have meaning to me (although the first two are "cyclical" in their designs giving them no beginning or end) - also, all of them have come around (mainly after) a really hard time in my life - my recent is the one I posted about a month or two ago...

"And this too shall pass" - it helps me out at some point in every single day it seems....

My next will probably be something along the lines of "as a man thinketh in his heart so is he" - or something like that ;)

I'm not even what you would consider religious - maybe one day I'll be "spiritual" but I highly doubt I'll ever be anything else...

BUT - proverbs (whether from the Chinese or the Bible or whatever) always seem to speak to me in ways other things can't....
