It's about 8:30 am here as I write this. I thought I would kind of keep kind of a journal of my events and let you all know what I am doing. The trip was VERY long. We had to change airports in London, which we took a bus from Gatwick to Heathrow. The ride was about an hour long and costed 36 pounds (or about $67 ) for all of us. Once we landed in Warsaw we were in a car for about 4 hours. 2 hours of that is just getting out of Warsaw. People here drive like shit and it makes me nervous. Fortunatly now that we are at my wifes home town, most people walk everywhere. Driviers seem to be under the impression that you're suppose to accelarate 30 feet and slam on your breaks just short of the other car, evertime. When we got to my wifes house I had the most increadable food. I now see why people talk about it all the time. So many new flavors. Oh and of course we drank a bottle of Vodka, between her dad, brother and myself. When in Rome do as Rome :D Well we are about to go and talk to the priest and get things finalized for our ceramony next saturday. So talk to you all later.

I had it really cold. We will see if it's the same way at the wedding. Part of the best man's job (they call them a witness. They don't have groomsmen or bride's maids either, just one person each) is to make sure everyone glass has vodka in it at all times. Then anytime somone wants to make a cheers for us, everyone is supose to drink, or something like that.

Cool idea to keep a journal bro. Not only for us here at the board reading it. But this will be something kind of cool to read in a few years times. It will remind you of stuff that you had forgotten.
Anyway, have fune, enjoy your wedding, take lots of pics.
Im happy for you my brother. All my best to you and your family.

Enjoy your time there, Shibby! I have always wanted to visit Poland to meet relatives on my mother's side. Hope you are overindulging on all the fantastic foods.
Has the wife's family broken out the really strong alcohol yet? The stuff that pretty much evaporates as it's going down your throat? It's usually chased with a slice of ripe tomato that's been liberally salted. If you see a plate of that on the table and a bottle that's somewhat smaller than the standard vodka bottle, brace yourself!

Hope he remembers the next day after all that vodka lol. J/K. That's my favorite alcoholic drink but I like mine mixed with OJ. I couldn't imagine drinking that much vodka straight up.
What brand of vodka is it bro?

Ha, I asked my wife's dad about and he laughed. He said he would never do that to me, you only give that stuff to people you don't like.Originally posted by hitmansbEnjoy your time there, Shibby! So no pictures yet, maybe today. The disk drive is broken so I can't load the camera software yet. Let's see what we did interesting... Yesterday we went to this place where they have historical Polish buildings. They have them set up kind of like a museum so you can see how they use to live in the 18th and 19th century. I have pictures of it I will post asap.
The name of the vodka we had the first night was called Absolwent. We had some other vodka Saturday night called Zubrowka, It was really good. It has a piece of straw in it that gives it a nice flavor. We mixed it with apple juice and it tasted like a cider. Luckily we walk everywhere here so I won't build up to much fat :D
We went to Mass yesterday morning and that was interesting. The church is so beautiful. The whole thing to me was kind of like watching a movie. I couldn't understand a word they were saying, so I just watched how everything went. It's very monotone and stiff.
Sunrise here is at about 4am, so I have got up quite early. I like to go out back to the lake and feed the ducks and swans. Sunset is about 9:30pm, so there is only about 5 hours of darkness.
Today we are going to look for a vest and tie for my suite. Here they were suits and not tux's for the wedding. It may be kind of hard to find a vest because they're not very popular here. I have everything else, but what kind of distinguishes the groom is I will wear a light creme color shirt. It's tradition to wear white or creme color as the groom. Other men will were a different colored shirt or something with stripes.
