Hey man, you get out of it what you put into it, so you may not be able to find any shortcuts. The Healthcare industry is booming & nurses are in high demand. Lots of opportunities for overtime, good benefits, etc.

When I had to make my decision in the 90's, I chose IT to become a programmer because technology was booming and in high demand. I ended up a Database Administrator, but these days I say screw this field. Too many folks coming in working for rice these days. The Healthcare industry isn't going to face any similar dilemma for quite some time.

Best of luck whatever path you decide to take.

Well the most important thing is do something you like to do or you will be miserable for you entire life. It doesn’t matter what you do your going to have to invest in your career one way or another. Keep in mind also that what is hot now my not be a hot commodity for the 30 or 40 years of your work life. Life is full of brass rings of opportunity. I would 1st list the things I think I would enjoy most regardless of how big a reach you might think it is. Then list the end game financial rewards and then the cost of beginning on that path and the education investment. It is your life; you are the one that has to live it. Love what you do 1st. Life is funny most people don’t do what they think there gona do but what is important is to begin the journey and take advantage of the opportunity’s that present themselves as you go

What about Mechanical Engineering? If you already have a mechanic background that would probably not be bad for you.
