Thats agood physcological strike for al-qaeda, they're gonna find Bin Laden in a hole in a few years like Saddam. The longer these sort evade capture the more influence they have, not any more. I hope it brings some peace over there and steadies government.

this is nothing short of a major victory against the insurgent presence in Iraq...I think this could even change the tide of the occupation

Just as the bombs hit the house, there were also 12 raids done simultaneously which gave "a treasure chest of information".

I keep hearing that because this guy was more focused on a civil war his death will shift their efforts back towards the U.S. What's everyone elses take on this?

Don't think that I am down playing the fact that this is a great accomplishment or anything - I just wondered about the topic since the media seems to be preaching it...

                          from the stratfor intelligence analysis:

"Pairs of F-16s are more likely to be used when there is pre-existing intelligence that
results in a tasking. U.S. forces selected their weapon very carefully
to be low on fragmentation or fire to maximize the chances of the quick
recovery of an easily identifiable corpse. Al-Zarqawi was not found, he
was sold out. A political deal was made, and the Sunnis have delivered
                          on their end.

The only question remaining is how many other jihadists have 500-pound
                          bombs in their immediate future?"

Apparently they were able to trace him through tips from a high level participant in his organization. the tip led to his spiritual advisor who they tailed for two weeks. throughout this time there were many other intelligence break-throughs that the gov had to sit on for fear of scaring zarqawi out of his routine. by playing it cool they got him, and 17 other raids with repercussions that will surely be played out soon.

Another piece of trash gone. It is rumored that he was the one who did the actual beheading of that guy in the orange jumpsuit video. The world is better now with him gone.
