I missed most the england game. Only saw overtime. The refs this whole tournament have been very wierd. I watched France vs Brazil game and thougt Brazil was being heavily favored on the calls. I disapointed that England is out but I'm so much happier that Brazil is out. :) A Gemany vs France final would be crazy.

Seriously, what the fuck was that? In the World Cup final, at the end of the second overtime period, tied 1-1, the last game of his career....good decision. I will say, though, that the red card was bullshit. No doubt if one of the officials had actually seen it when it happened, it definitely deserves a red card, but in soccer if the officials don't see it when it happens, they can't go back and use the replay to make the call. The side official called the ref over AFTER it was replayed a couple of times in the stadium. You can't tell me that if one of the officials had seen it with their own eyes that they wouldn't have thrown the red card immediately. It took way too fuckin long for them to make that call. Zidane took a hell of a chance doing that, but there's no way you're going to convince me that the officials didn't make that call because they saw what happened on the replay.Originally posted by THE BOUNCERGood final yesterday. I cant believe zidane. Not a good way to end a career.
I guarantee you that Zidane's reaction to that asshole wasn't just because of that one comment. Of course he's got to expect that they're going to try to get under his skin, so it's to his shame that he reacted the way he did.
Plus, I hate the Italian team anyway....:D Bunch of floppin, lame ass cry babies. But that's just my opinion.

I do agree with everything you said. The only thing that makes me feel better about the call is that he absolutly deserved to get kicked out weather or not the ref saw it or not.Originally posted by babybluesSeriously, what the fuck was that? bro they had a lip reader figure out what the guy said to himOriginally posted by mindstarZidane broke my heart...but after that incident, i can't say Italy didn't deserve to win. I wonder what that guy said to make Zisou snap?
I guess he told him that he is a "son of a terrorist whore" lol his mom is Albanian or someshit
also he called him a n**** (ok it rhymes with trigger if you didnt get it)
that head-but was awsome but incredibly stupid

I certainly don't condone that kind of behaviour, but until i've been in a World Cup Final as the Captain of my country knowing it's my last game & it's 1-1 & into overtime, I couldn't possibly pass any judgements on his actions.
That being said, Italy shouldnt have even made it that far. Although it was a World Cup full of great Football, IMO it was a World Cup ruled by bad referee calls & a video ref needs to be brought into the game to over rule critical decisions if a wrong call is made. Fans & spectators invest way too much money into the game for the result to depend on how a Ref calls the game! The game should be won fairly & squarely, not by the luck of a refs crappy call! But thats a whole other debate I know!

that is harsh...but i wonder if that's the first time he's heard talk like that? I mean he is a professional athelete. I probably would have lost my cool too...i did get red carded out of my last soccer game. That's why rugby is so much better, there are plenty of chances to get someone (semi) legally...

I can understand that you shouldn't lose your cool, and his reaction certainly wasn't professional, but neither is taunting and insulting someone like that repeatedly. Who holds Materazzi responsible for his actions? His comments were made with purpose, with the intention of provoking Zidane. Believe it or not, it's rare in professional sports for someone to just t-off on someone else for absolutely no reason. Tempers flare, but not without reason. To punish Zidane only, sends the message that the antagonist is guilt free. Driving his forehead into Dingleberry's chest warrented a red card, there's no arguing that. But it's shameful to the game of soccer that they allowed the guilty party to continue playing. Zidane did nothing to provoke Materazzi's comments, but Materazzi did much to provoke Zidane's actions. Zidane's reaction shouldn't overshadow the rediculous behavior of Materazzi. I like what the French team's ex-coach had to say, that above all Zidane is human and a human is fragile and breakable. Theoretically, yes, he should have just ignored the bastard, but there's a reason that some athletes resort to provocation. Because it works.Originally posted by ect0m0rphYeah I heard he insulted Zidanes mother who is on her death bed. But you cant lose your cool and he definietly did.

Neither should France for that matter. That's what's great about sports. It's all about playing harder than your opponent, whether they're better than you statistically or not.Originally posted by xxxkazxxxItaly shouldnt have even made it that far.
