Can you have these removed from your debt?

I've been told that if you accrued them while you were uninsured/unemployed that you can. I had to go to the ER about 3 yrs ago when I was in school and it cost about 3k.

I mean what about homeless people or gang bangers, if they go to the ER and rack up a bill youknow it will never get payed.

I think it has to do with being able to show that you applyied for medicad at the time of the incident or just before, but for what ever reason it didn't come through. My wife and I have been recieving a bill over and over again for our son's birth. But nothing has been sent to collections. We have told them a few times that we have medicade and given them the number. There seems to be a huge communication gap. I don't know if they are hoping we will just pay something or what. But hospitals loose millions every year. Those poor people and gang bangers do get a claim against them at some point I believe, I just think they don't care.

i got one what thier still calling me up. I took a trip to the ER back in 2003. My mother is the one who took care of it but the credit companies call at times here at home.

Would and could this affect me for a govt job or even local job such as pd or even firefighting. I heard medical, dont mess u up or show up or something. Just worried though.
