  • Capital Fourth

I thought today would be a good day to get my TV out of hibernation, so I turned it on to watch the Capital 4th celebration on PBS.

It was a reasonable show overall, not as good in my opinion as some of the past years. Some random thoughts from the show:

    1. Jason Alexander as host... not bad, not great.

    2. Vanessa Williams: 1 word - stunning! What was Rick Fox thinking, letting her go?

    3. Michael Bolton: This guy sold 53 million albums!!! 53 million! Who in tarnation bought them all???

    4. Jo Dee Messina: Dressed like a trailer park tramp. You're in the nation's capital, celebrating her birthday. Take some style tips from Vanessa Williams and wear some classy clothes, for heavens sake!

    5. Elmo: You know, I love Kermit, Ernie and Burt, even Oscar the Grouch. But I can never figure out Elmo's popularity - if I had heard one more high-pitched squeak from that red-furred little *$%#*, I was ready to kick his ass all the way back to Sesame Street.

    That's all! :usausausa
