Bouncer, you're definitely too "Jersey" to go anywhere else. I'm not really that "Jersey" myself, but something about it just feels like home. Something about being close to NYC, the strip malls, everyone driving an imported SUV, you can't fill your own gas...
btw, there are a lot of horse farms in Hunterdon County...just take 78 West for a long time and you'll see (or smell) them

Ya, you brought up something I havent even mentioned. I have never seen so many people drive around with confederate flags, (they sell them at the local DMV) LOL. also, bumper stickers everywhere with "Jesus loves you" and so on. im not going to put anyone down for what they believe in but for fuck sake, why must they announce it to the world?Originally posted by Gods SonSorry you didnt love NC bounce,The Carolinas are the south but also the Bible belt....Thats where your confussed South Florida isnt in the bible belt.I guess thats why Yankees like it there. I lived in NC for 30+ years prior to moving to Texas 2 years ago. I was from a city north of Charlotte and never got asked any religious questions. However, when I went to work for Lowe's at their HQ's in North Wilkesboro, I got asked all the damn time..."let me ask you something...do you have God in your life?"
That always pissed me off. I'd be carrying on a perfectly normal conversation, and it never failed about 15 minutes into the conversation that question would arise. Most of the time it was people that were older than me. The fact it didn't happen in my hometown leads me to believe that certain pockets are worse than others.
I guess that place was just weird though because I grew up an hour away, and in NW they had a different vocabulary. I'd ask people from there what they did on the weekend. If they didn't do anything, they'd say..."we just ghamed around" or "just ghammen". I was like WTF is gamin...such a stupid fucking word that I don't even know how or if it can be spelled.

one other thing that is funny and people dont seem to understand down here. if im in the gym or at the store or whatever and someone says "hi" i always respond with "how ya doing". that is just how i say hi, im not really asking how people are doing. but alot of times people will actually stop and tell me how they are doing. lol.

lol, that's funny. People here will ask (here in this part of OK. it is very different than the Dallas area I grew up in) "How you doing", I will say fine. But I guess it's not good enough. They really want to know how I'm doing. If I just say "fine", then I hear, "So everthing is going okay with you?". I just want to be like "If I wanted you to know something I would tell you dumbass". This includes people you barely know or don't know at all. Now if I answer "Everythings fine" then that's usually the end of it. It is the southern hospitality, but it can get annoying.

Good luck with the move back home. I couldn't live in NC if you paid me. Nice place to visit but to live? :hang:
When you're from the north east, especially NY/NJ, moving anywhere away from there is a huge change but especially to the south. Tampa's a bit different as we have a huge population from NY. Stromba went to the deli tonight after work and the old man was talkin to him in Italian. He picked up a wedge of sharp provolone (Aricchio) and some sopprasata. He snacked on it with some fresh semolina bread and a glass of wine. We've been able to make this place home but NC? No way.
