  • I need your reassurance..

I have had a mole on my back for as long as I can remember. Recently I have developed a bit of hypochondria about everything for some reason. lol.

Anyway over the last year and a half, whenever I have been to the doc I have had them take a look at it. They all take a look at it and say, "it looks fine to me". I have also been to a dermatoligist and she looked at it and said, "it looks fine".

with more then 3 doctors and 1 dermatoligst all saying that it is fine, you would think that i would forget about it. the problem is, i have done searches on the internet for "melanoma" and it has scared me to shit. lol.

I keep reading about the "ABCD" system.

    "A B C D" warning signs to watch for:

Asymmetry - any changes in the uniformity of the shape of the mole.

Border - any irregularity in the margins of the mole, or blurring of the borders.

Color - various colors, with irregular shades of brown, blue, black, or loss of pigmentation of a portion of the mole.

Diameter - an increase in the size of a mole, with a diameter greater than 6 millimeters, or a quarter of an inch (size of eraserhead of a pencil).

My mole is a perfect circle shape, it has a border to it, the color is all the same. It dosent stick out or anything like that, its flat. The only part that scares me is the Diameter part. My mole is bigger then an eraser head. I would say its slightly less then half an inch but def bigger then an eraser head.

Just wondering what your thoughts are. All the docs tell me its fine but still I worry..

Does anyone else have a mole bigger then the size of an eraserhead?

    Thanks

    Bro,
I know what you mean I been the same way recently. I going through the same shit. I think your fine. I believe the important thing you said is it isnt raised up or stuck out. If that isnt good enough tell them do a biopsy and /or it have it removed.

If all the docs said it's fine and it still bothers you, go get the over the counter mole removal stuff.

I'd say get it removed anyway, it's not a huge procedure, from what I've heard

I know nothing about that. Is it a cream? How does it work. Is there any danger to it? Thanks

I think you're fine. A big factor is - is it growing? I think its great you got a second opinion - but I don't think that many Dr's are wrong.

You can opt to have it removed, but its going to leave a scar in its place...

I know nothing about any over the counter stuff, but they removed one off me that was a few inches below my navel. I didn't like it when she said we should remove this, but it was painless.

She injected it w/pain killer and then sliced it off w/a razor blade. Then the sent it off to be tested. Anyway, I think if you get it removed you'll be glad you did...then you don't have to worry about it changing.

What you guys are talking about is different from what I am talking about. This is not the type of mole that you could cut off with a razor blade. Its flat on the skin, there is no bump or anything of that nature.
