  • Am I just being paranoid?

Ok, so the last 6 months for me have not been very good personally...(losing the baby and all). However, professionally it has been good.(I got promoted)

HOWEVER- I've jsut been feeling a lot of anxiety, and IDK- fear about WTF is going on...First my car needed service...then I drive off at the gas station with my gas cap still on the gas door. I'm going to Italy on vaca next month for 10 days....I wrote the check for the trip, and it was check #666...THEN- I get an email at work telling me I haven't chosen a beneficiary for my Life Insurance!?!??!?! :thumbsdow :hmmm:

    haha, sorry thats kinda funny.

Na, relax. Enjoy your trip. No need to stress. (kinda funny me telling someone not to stress when I am Mr Stress himself.) lol

take some pics in italy for us. get a real italian pizza. you will be surprised how little they actually put on the pizza. just a little sauce, some spices, a just a dab of cheese.

RS...unfortunately you are getting close to that age when these things start to occur. Granted it is all in your head but what can we do. I had never had a problem with anxiety or depression...then I hit 30. Man...did everything change then. I just felt my life was changing with every day and there was nothing I could do about it. I never worried about the next day or what I had done that day, but then I noticed at night my mind would start wandering about the things I had done during the day and what I was gonna do the next day. Not really sure why, but it just started. I guess as we get older we just start to draw more concerns about our actions and start to prioritize. We kind of start to grow up and not live so care free. IMHO anyway.

I think you just have a lot on your mind - probably feel like you're doing everything all at once, etc. I hope you can relax, leave the stress at home, and really have a good time. It will be good for you phsysically and mentally. Enjoy - you deserve it :)

Just paranoia. I say, they are bumps in the road now, for smooth sailing to come. Get them out of the way now so that you'll have no worries later. Don't worry bout it all. Enjoy italy. I hope to go back someday. Stay away from the lasagne, that stuff will give you the runs.

I just watched the Seinfeld "Everything always evens out" episode. this post made me think of that.

I had major anxiety about dying after I had my first baby... It made me feel like who will raise her if I die? just lots of worries... I think that everyone goes through that what you are talking about.

I agree with an earlier post saying that it's just you have a lot on your plate right now causing you stress. Hang in there.

                  bad14 has an excellent point

granted i talk to lot's of folks, and they handle stress as they age is very different

one thing, even happens to me, as i get stressed out my paranoya rises, i start seeing the dark undertones of things, and yup, i know logically, nah can't be, yet, it does get to me at times

i know it's not much, but just posting up about, talking to a sympathetic ear helps

hope u feel bettah, like buttah
                  good luck

Dont worry too much it will just make any problems worse. Not to complain too much in your thread but my g/f of 5 years left, I got laid off last week and my docs just told me my tonsils are coming out next month and I will be essentially living on protein shakes for 2 weeks. Next year is going to have to majorly kick ass for you and me. Dont stress, enjoy your vacation, sounds like you need it.

                        Trip-

As usual you make perfect sense..

PI- your post is dead on! I'm approaching the big 3-0 next April. I just took this new promotion, and I am exhausted each and every day. I'm LUCKY to get out to do cardio at lunch. And, then I'll get home, relax, get in bed, and then I'll toss and turn till 2 or 3 in the morning!! Of course, the new job, the lack of pregnancy, the weight I can't loose is all zipping through my mind. What's up with that? I'm sure it has a lot to do w/ getting older, but what is it in the mind that does this or knows this?

I guess I just feel like I have so much on my plate with my new set of issues, and normal everyday ones that I'm trying to do, that I feel I don't even have time to breath.

                        How do you "de stress"?

It's obviously different for everybody, but I know that when my life is in utter chaos and I force myself to do something in nature away from the walls and pressures of society I feel a lot better.

I've had a lot going on in the last few months (few years really but...) and I took Saturday got up a 4am, onto the bay w/a fishing kayak, and paddled my ass all around the magroves fishing with a good friend. It took me nearly 3hrs until I finally let myself enjoy something that I knew I loved to do. Stress had me so wound up that I was actually questioning whether I was having a good time...wtf?! Finally after the sun and paddling beat me down a bit I was forced to submit and enjoy an absolutely perfect day.

                          ...a remember to breath...deep ;)

On a day-to-day basis, I de-stress best by distracting myself with entertainment: TV, movies, and sports. If I'm uber-stressed, I might add a drink or two into that mix (but only occasionally).

On a long-term basis, I like to travel....sounds like you already have that covered. I'm sure the time in Italy will do you a world of good...you'll come back feeling rejuvenated.

I'm sure that this has eventually happened to everyone but personally, I have had a string of really bad things happen to me in a very short amount of time before. One thing that I can say without a doubt......once you reach a certain bottom there is nowhere to go but up. There is almost a certain kind of liberating feeling one gets when they realize that they are completely fucked. Although things seem quite stressful right now you must realize that they aren't as bad as they could be. So, you have a couple of nagging baby pounds on you, is that the end of the world? No! You will eventually lose them.

Try to look at things from a different perspective. You are an attractive, healthy female with a wonderful mind and a deep understanding of how the world works. You will get to travel overseas on a vacation soon. You have a nice home to live in, someone who loves you, a job that allows you to make a decent living, and a lot of really good people right here on this board pulling for you. When you compare this to more unfortunate people, you have it made. For example, imagine if you were one of the innocent lebanese people who had their home and place of work destroyed or members of their family killed or wounded in the war action there. They have lost so much and many have nothing to go back to. They have no insurance to replace their homes or belongings. Many no longer have any means of viable income. They have no food or potable water unless it is provided by a relief worker and pretty much only have those possessions that they could carry with them as they fled for their lives. No, in the big picture you, I and the rest of us on this board have things pretty nice in comparison to others less fortunate in this world.

I know that things seem bad right now but they will get better. There is balance - an ebb and flow - in all things great and small and sooner or later they will again be on the upswing. Sometimes we can't complain but we still do. That's OK though. You needed to vent and who better to vent to than friends? You are definitely not a quitter and it seems to me that you are one of those people that will always make it and come out of a bad situation alright, no matter what the odds are. Don't sweat the small stuff.
