How do I put two .AVI files together?

I downloaded two files, extensions AVI, that are in Divx format. One file is CD1 and the other is CD2. In the past, I have run a program called DIVX to DVD and it will convert and burn to DVD format. BUT, what I want to do is combine the CD1 and CD2 into a 1.5 GB file before I run it on the converter, so I don't have to burn 2 DVD's. When it converts one 7XX MB file, it only uses around 1.5 gb of the DVD. Know what I mean? There's gotta be a simple program out there for doing this. It was split to fit on CD's, but I want to put the two files back together. Thanks

There's a program called dvd shrink. Throw it in google and you'll have no problem finding it. It'll allow you to re author both .iso files into one .iso file. Let me know if you have issues.

I messed with this almost all evening yesterday. I downloaded a program called AVI MPG Joiner. It works well, but when I tried these two files, it would not work. It said the audio was not in synch. It wasn't off very much, but enough to not let the program proceed. I downloaded a program called Virtual Duo Editor and tried to fix the audio. That proved unsucessful after about an hour. I ended up using the program VSO Divx to DVD converter. You can load more than one file in it to convert. I thought that was going to work, BUT!!! once it was converted, the .VOB files were around 6 gigabytes. That was a wasted 4 hours. I just use a single layer DVD, so no more than 4.3 gb will fit on it.

Beefcake.. You suggested DVD shrink... I would have to convert the AVI files to a DVD format, then to an ISO format to be able to use that program. I am so frustrated with this right now that I feel like crap today. More people should have a dvd player that supports Divx format. I would just burn the two AVI files as a data DVD and it would work fine. I ended up using the VSO Divx to DVD converted and just making it into 2 DVD's. What a headache.

I was under the assumption that you were converting them all the way to iso format. You're missing a step. You need to use dvd shrink to compress those files and then combine them into one iso image file and burn it to a disk.

I do not think the DVD Shrink that I have will compress .avi files. Maybe a newer version will? What do you use to combine into an ISO file?

I know how I should have done it

I should have loaded the two files into the VSO Divx to DVD. I need to let it convert those to DVD format. I then need to use DVD shrink to fit that onto the DVD. Man, why could I have not thought of this last night.
