  • Interesting Math Problem

    The Mother is 21 years older than her baby. In 6 years the baby will be 5 times younger than the mother.
    The question is:
    Where is the father?
    This is not as hard as it looks like. Don't look at the answer, you can solve it mathematically.
    The question "Where is father" has to be analysed closely.

    Look for the answer lower....

    even lower....

    Solution:
    The baby today is X years old and the mother is Y years old.
    We know that the mother is 21 years older than the baby.
    Therefore:
    X+21=Y

    We also know that in 6 years the baby will be 5 times younger than the mother. So we can write this equation:

    5 (X + 6) = Y + 6 substitute X for Y and start solving:
    5 (X + 6) = X + 21 + 6
    5X + 30 = X + 27
    5X - X = 27 - 30
    4X = -3
    X = -3/4

    The baby is today -3/4 years old which is equal -9 months.....

    The solution:
    The father is on the mother.
