Satellite Testing

Is anyone on here familiar with "testing" on Dish Networ or Direct TV? Me and my father are interested in this. My father, back in the day installed over 200 C Band satellites in the 80's and early 90's. Since then we have had to pay for programming. A friend of a friend has been "testing" for 3 years, but will not give anyone how he does it other than it's somehow through his PC. There are lots of different ways to test, and lots of websites out there, just looking for someone respectable who you can trust on what works and doesn't work.

the fact of the matter is that when enough people are "testing" it becomes a statistical anomoly (sp?) and thus comes under the radar of the powers that be. I'm not surprised that your friend of a friend does not want you to know how they do what they do.
As soon as the trick you learn becomes learned amongst other people, it will be countered, trust me when I say the companies employe some incredibly intelligent people.
Instead, you might just wish to pay for the services you would like. I'm not here to say the cost equals the value of what you recieve, but if you're looking in a bodybuilding forum for advice I think it's sufficient to say you're not far ahead enough on the statistical curve of technological brilliance to stay ahead of the countermeasures the same said companies apply.

I was taking a shot in the dark on seeing if there was any people on here that is familiar with satellite testing. I have asked some other tech questions regarding computer programs and AV questions on here and there has been some people here with good advice. This board is composed of thousands of people. To dismiss the fact that there are not any techno savvy guro's on here is silly. I do pay for my cable TV programming. If you would have clicked the link in my post, you would have seen there is a very large forum on that website. I wanted to see if anyone HERE has done this or knows anything about it. I am in the beginning stages of figuring this out, and I will figure out the most cost efficient way to do so.

I wouldn't be suprised if the next move to counter theft of services from unauthorized viewers would be for a satellite company such as DISH or DirectTV to write a virus program to download and wipe the receiver clean of all programming- like reformatting a computer hard drive. If a certain code is read upon receipt, the virus does not affect the hard drive but if there is no validation sequence, ooops...

I'm not dismissing your question or the expertise of others on this board bro! I'm saying I doubt many people would give up industry secrets that they benefit from when the WWW is accessible to millions of people who may ruin the technical expertises from which they gain! (i.e. tips from this website)

In retrospect, some of this might seem a bit of a bash, and I don't mean it that way, if you start receiving pm's from people who are generous than by all means more power to you.

Dish network currently has several programs in place of this nature. If you go to the on-demand preview, it's actually a very high bandwidth consuming program from which little is the actual preview, instead it verifies your programming and billing status, and disables your programming (and nullifies your current programming card) if anything is out of sync. you then get to wait for another one to be sent before service can be reinstated.

I know for a fact that there are several all-inclusive past programming cards that are immune to this, but haven't seen any on the market for a while. They're carefully guarded anyways.

The bills for high-speed i recieve are too high... hopefully more competition in the future will lower the price.
