  • Blowing off a little steam about my gym

So, I'm temporarily working out at this shitty little gym outside of Atlanta paying $60 on a month to month basis. Anyway, two days ago I'm doing flat bench. I'm lifting alone, so when I rack the weight, I kinda force the bar into the rack to make sure it's racked. I admit, it makes a more noise than norma, but it's by no means loud. So, this female personal trainer comes over and asks me to be more quiet while I'm working out. Are you serious? this is a gym. So, I just blow her off.

Well, she must have said something to the manager because today while I'm doing deadlifts, the manager comes over and asks me to stop dropping the weight. WHAT?!?! I never dropped any weight. So, I told her I wasn't, and she says it sure sounds like it and walks off.

So, i'm finishing my work out and thinking .. in all the years i've been working out, I've never been asked to be more quiet while I work out. On my way out, i politely say to the manager,"Can you just give me a partial refund? I respect the way you want to run your gym, but i've been asked the last two times i've been here to be more quiet. This place isn't for me."
She says,"We don't give refunds. You'll just have to obey the rules."
So, i'm staring at her like she's from fucking mars, and she says,"it says all over the gym ... no dropping the weights."
I say,"I wasn't dropping the weights, I was in a grove, repping out deadlifts. You can't expect someone to change the way they work out."
She says,"Well, I do deadlifts, and I don't drop the weights."

With that, i just walked out.

Bro ... that's the thing! this place is a freakin' rat trap. old ass weights, dirt all over the place, unracked weights, etc.

I hate to be sexist, but no guy would ask me to be more quiet in the gym. It's not like I was grunting and screaming ... just lifting.

rat trap and they are worried about people dropping weights? before i left i would have picked up all the weights and dropped them all over the floor.

Agreed. Since you aren't going to get your money back, you should do something to make them wish they'd given you the refund.

Id just go and workout the way i wanted to untell my membership was up. If they dont want to give you a refund then they can deal with it for the next month. There is no way to gently set down a DL if you are lifting anything of value
