UFC 64: Franklin and Silva

Holy hell...Anderson Silva absolutely destroyed Rich Franklin!!! :dancingne

First off, I have never bet on any event in my life, but I had a feeling of total confidence that Silva would beat him. So, I bet and I won. :D

However, I had no idea how brutally and quickly he would dismantle him. Silva basically got him in a muay thai clench and tore his midsection down w/knees, landed some vicious knees to his face which ultimately relocated Franklins nose to the other side of his face. Silva finished it with a few kicks, more knees and punches before it was stopped 2:59 into the 1st round.

I never even contemplated Franklin getting passed Silva. Franklin is too hyped up imo...not taking away from his record or his ability, but his ego surpassed his skill coming into this one.

I liked the pre-fight when Dana White was saying 'Franklin isn't given enough respect for his abilities and that he is sometimes taken lightly cuz he doesn't have the beat up face of a typical figher" lol....he has the face now. Did you hear him at the end trying to talk while sucking air through his nose? that thing got crushed and relocted about 1/2 inch to the left. Brutal!

I felt that way too until he beat loiseau, and then I thought, maybe he's better than I thought. Guess i was wrong.

I'm sorry, but I about lost my lunch when Franklin got his face busted my Silva's knee!!!! GROSS!!! The dudes nose looked like rubber after the fight. And you could just see the whole nose collapse when they showed it in slo-mo.

Once Franklin got in the clutch, it was over. After all of those kidney and liver shots to the body, it just couldn't have been planned by Silva any better.

Something about that sport just seems so barbaric and not really a sport. I mean, it really is just light street fighting without the brass knuckles.

And did you see Franklin's eyes after all of those kicks to the body?? They were about to pop out of the sockets he was in so much pain.

Yea it was brutal...He was trying to defend himself with his arms and he didn't even have the strength since he got the wind knocked out of him...If you watch it in slow motion, you can see his sides just shake vigorously...Poor guy, he's a good fighter, but he was not prepared at all...People/teams always need a loss...This is how you become better.

Poor guy? Franklin deserved to lose. I don't feel any sympathy for him. In a previous interview he stated how he didn't have to train as hard as others because his mental game was that much better.
