That would be a good way to do it. Another variation could be to bypass the low rank playoffs since they're not going for a real championship and just use all of the teams above .500/6 wins, etc. to fill in all of the other bowl games. That way you could still see a different bowl game every night starting in mid-December the way it is currently.

Speaking of which, I kind of like seeing a college game during the regular season on Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday, but in a way, it gives team longer to prepare and game plan for other teams. To be fair, they should all have to stick to Thurs. - Sat., but I guess an argument could still be made about Thursday & Friday games. Va. Tech has been notorious for how they've used bye weeks and Thursday night games to get additional time for a high ranked team.

Here is a hypothetical situation for you...

I remember the top 2 teams from last year and I don't remember the next 6, but for argument's sake let's roll with this...

The top 8 teams would be seeded, so last year would look something like this:

        1) USC
        2) Texas
        3) Penn St.
        4) Georgia
        5) Ohio St.
        6) W. Virginia
        7) Notre Dame
        8) FSU

Then you would take the top 7 Bowl Games (or whatever they're deemed to be):
Outback, Gator, Capital One, Fiesta, Sugar, Orange, Rose

Then bracket & play the games, which could be as follows (you could split these 4 over Sat & Sun for ratings if so desired):

        12/17 & 12/18
        Outback -- USC vs. FSU
Gator -- Penn St. vs. W. Virginia
Capital One -- Georgia vs. Ohio St.
Fiesta -- Texas vs. Notre Dame

        12/24
Sugar -- USC vs. Penn St.
        Orange -- Texas vs. Georgia

        1/4
        Rose -- USC vs. Texas

The top 4 (Fiesta, Sugar, Orange, & Rose) would rotate. All bowl games would keep their same locations & all other non-championship bowl games would still be played from mid-December through New Year's Day.

However, they'll find a way to blow it down the stretch just like they have the last several years. A playoff system allows them to do that vs. being a shoe-in for the superbowl.

Lol...I wondered if this post would come back up. Well, I'm here to eat my crow. I admit I was wrong. Congrats to the Colts on a well executed game plan.

This game was eerily reminiscent of the College championship. Opening kick off returned and that was basically it for the team that was first to score.

It's all good. It's fun to try and make predictions and I'm sure you could easily find more than a couple of my strong statements, that I was wrong.
