the graphics thing i read in wired magazine, they said xbox 360 game designers are only now catching up? i dunno, i'm the furthest from being an expert there can be.

I'm not sure of the magazine that talked about the PS3 - I'll see if I can find it - and of course I am NO expert either....

The blu-ray was just a MAJOR perk for me - since like you said, the cost of that alone makes it worth having a new gaming system as well :)

Supply and demand baby...gotta love it. Entrepreneurship at its finest.

My question is where are these people standing. I drove by a Best Buy yesterday in Houston and didn't see people outside. I've heard the same thing about people waiting since Wed, but where the hell are they waiting? :hmmm:

The thing is that it seems so trumped up. I mean, like Bouncer said, if you wait things will settle down and there will be enough for everyone who wants one. It might be a supply and demand thing initially but it just appears to be very contrived. I think that retailers today are driving demand by giving misleading guidance on supply. "You better get in line early for this one because they're going to go fast and you're really really really going to want one of these!!!!!!!!!" How many times have you heard that? I think that Sony has created an over-inflated supply and demand situation by announcing that there will only be a certain amount of units available. I just think that it's unfair to consumers to manipulate them like that.

I agree it is unfair to manipulate consumers, but I also don't have pity for people who are so impatient that they just have to have it right now. :dancingne If they can't wait a month or two, I think they're foolish because they've done w/out it for so long. What will another month or two hurt?

Yes, retailers are misleading consumers...anything to get you in the door. It is like happy hour, lady's night or free food at a strip joint. There are always ulterior motives. On a tangent here, but it kind of reminds me of some 70 yr. old man w/a 25 yr. old woman. Everybody gives him hell because she is just using him for the money, but is he really that bad off? Everything has a price...

A lot of times stores don't want people camping out in front of there stores (creating trash, bathrooms everywhere, fights...) so they will set a time for people to line up (some times before normal opening times on like a Sunday) and get a number of who gets to go first (when the doors open if you aren't there and your number is called you are SOL) or give out the equal number of "coupons" for how many units they will have.

My favorite(s) were all the Grand Tourismo & any kind of flying games. However, I hadn't played in several years until last year. I quickly quit because of everything constantly having to be read over and over. Hopefully, the PS3 will solve those memory issues w/the 60 Gb hard drive. You'll have to let us know what the speeds are like.

I'm sure in 6 months to a year there will be some kick ass games.

LOL...that would be my luck...be the first person the 1st person in line :nerdnew: ...at a store that didn't have one! Your explanation & Shibby's make sense.

I wish they would do it differently. Something like tell everybody to show up at 6 am & register. Then at 8 am have a drawing instead of having all these people standing outside your store for days.

Also, if I was dead set on having one, I don't know that I'd trust someone from Ebay. Instead, at about 7 am, I'd just go to the store & start asking people in line if they'd like to sell theirs for 1500 or so...cash on the spot. May not work, but it might plus you wouldn't be wasting all that time in line.

I just drove by a Walmart and there was a big row of people in lawn chairs with blankets and coolers - wtf. A Best Buy manager just called the radio and said his store only got 6 units - yikes.....

I picked up my system this morning from EB games. They took 12 preorders and only received 8 systems(6 60gb). Fortunately, I was second in line. I got the 60gb version, Resistance, Madden, and 2nd controller. I had planned on ebaying it right before xmas. Now i just want to tear the damn box open.
