Also, I know some women are more capable than men, but when the going gets tough, I'd rather have a man beside me vs. having to be concerned about making sure a woman is keeping up. In tomorrow's US military (partially today), things like this won't be as much of an issue due to so much technology being used in battle, but ground troops will always be required to some extent.

Anyway, I'm sure I have an unpopular view on women in the military, but for the most part, I'd rather not have them around in a combat capacity, and I think that is where the greatest needs would be in a draft.
I don't know about that. Most men I know I wouldn't trust in the trenches with me. On the other hand, if you could get the enemy to call a woman the "B" word, or the "C" word, you'd probably be able to sit back and eat an MRI while she kicked some butt, lol.

Also, (and somebody correct me if I'm wrong), but I think the Israeli women fight side by side with their male counterparts without any issues. Of course, I don't think you can compare the American female with the Israeli female. Most of the Israeli women have been in and around wars and such for a very long time, so it's part of their culture. Whereas American women, for the most part, only had to worry about who they hang out with and how they look. Apples to oranges I guess. BB

Personally I think women in a combat situations are more of a liability than an asset. Not because they are incapable, but because of how we as a society and as men react when women are in danger. Women have more to lose if taken captive IMO.

I'm curious as to who voted yes. Did you vote yes because you think it WILL be reinstated, or that it SHOULD be reinstated? Again, just curious as to your thoughts.

the draft isnt needed anymore. i worked with a recruiter for a few weeks, there are tons of people tryin to sign up for the military. They just turn most of them away. if they really needed people to go to war it wouldnt be hard all they have to do is changes a few things about the recruiting process. i had a perfect record and it took me a year and a half to even leave for basic. so the draft doesnt work anymore. besides, war isnt fought the same as it was back in the day. bombs and long range weapons eliminate the need for huge frontline infantry. and the average foot soldier can do much much more than before.

As for women in combat, i think the only reason they dont allow them to is because if they were to become a POW. women have special needs and can very sick or die. at least thats how my T.I. in basic explained it to me. im not sure if there are any other reasons. women are an utapped force, they can be evil.

Recruiting numbers are seriously below projected goals to the point that the government is offering larger sign on bonuses (20-30k) as long as you agree to be shipped over seas immediately after basic).

There are already women in combat. Hence, to captured female American soldiers thus far. They may not be infantry, but they are still on the front lines.

It's up to $50k now for some positions. I even contemplated the green berets. I can qualify for them, but i'd have to sell my house. You pretty much don't make shit and have to live for the excitement and adrenaline. Buddy of mine just got out of boot camp and has orders to iraq, and now he doesn't want to go anymore. If the next president continues to wage war with all these countries, they will have to do the draft.

I think you took what I said completely wrong. I'm not sure if you read my second post when someone else asked for clarification. I'm talking about people in prison. I think it would reduce crime, we wouldn't have overcrowded prisons and criminals could truly learn skills to rehabilitate themselves. What greater way to repay your debt to society than by protecting your country.

think of Spartans, they fight as 1. if there is 1 weakness it fails. you send over a bunch of convicts and you have many weaknesses. as far as overcrowding. Well if the US would stop putting people in jail for smoking weed or using some test it wouldn't be so bad.

Convicts in the army sounds great at first, but then you think about how you can't trust the person next to you. Not all convicts, but it gets me thinking about all the gangbangers that are in the army now who are learning these skills just so they can come back and use them against other gangs and cops. We have enough problems already with the guys in the army killing and raping civilians. We don't need to add more fuel to the fire.

that would be a good way to repay you debt. i would of went in a heart beat in stead of sittin on my ass for 4 years. but like beef said you couldnt trust most of them. there would be awal by the hundreds drug addicts tryin to get high. no one would take orders. it would be a mess.
